Default Canada Post loses man's passport, sparking 'nightmare of any immigrant'

I feel so bad for this guy.

I remember when I had to send my passport to Buffalo for my PR I sent it FedEx Ground and included a prepaid courier envelope to send it back via FedEx. I was pretty horrified when they shipped it back CanadaPost through another consulate. It could have easily been lost.

I remember also reading on a forum a story from an e-commerce seller saying he loses parcels all the time sent with Canada Post.

I hope one day we’ll see an overhaul of this organization.

USPS lost my passport once, upside the State Department got me a new new one pretty quickly, a couple weeks, but still a pain.

I hate not being able to use Fedex or UPS for my US Passport renewal, US even literally say's use Canada Post. "please send your application via Canada Post." and of course they send it back via post without tracking.

Not a good situation for this man at all and pricey too with the need to replace it most likely with India and get a visa stamp all over again.

Dartmouth, I have had a couple packages go missing there at least according to the scans, no idea why either since they were going ALberta to BC, got to BC, sat for a few days, then poof delivered in Dartmouth, never to be seen again.

Hmm, I wonder if there’s a postal worker there with lots of new stuff in their house, lol.

Well I’ve lived in CANADA for 55 years now and received many parcels in that time, quite a few from the UK. I have never had a parcel not delivered in that time. Similarly I have sent parcels with the same result. I guess I have a horseshoe where the sun don’t shine. FWIW, I trust CANADA POST.

And they don't leave stuff in your garbage bin either. Or leave stuff on the deck at the back where one doesn't routinely check. Not so far anyway.

We get wrongly delivered mail to our address at least once or twice a month.
I wouldn't mind if it was a close match, sometimes the name, number and road name are different to ours.
How can they make such huge errors?
I have delivered the letter myself on a few occasions if it's not too far.
Not a big fan of Canada Post.

We get a lot of misdelivered mail as well, street number is correct but the street is way off and totally different postal code, so no clue how it happens and based on the bulletin board in the mail room with all the misdirected mail on it, seems many in the building have the same issue. (Canada Post will eventually take the misdirected mail off the bulletin board, usually on Friday's, and sometimes the same misdirected mail is delivered again to us)

In August we received a letter from Canada post asking us to use our civic address not rural route (a type of rural addressing used in days gone by). As we had always used the civic address this didn't seem a problem until I noticed the letter was addressed to us in Maitland B0N 1T0, this is about 20-25km from us. Long story short after many many enquiries we found that Canada post has decided to change our address to match that of the sorting/delivery office, to quote"make it easier to identify where the mail is delivered from". Our civic address which forms our drivers licences, property tax and federal voters addresses no longer matches our mailing address because they are taken from land registry. Not just the post code but the actual location, so we can no longer provide two types of ID which match. They have told no one and have already taken our area out of the Canada post delivery system. So we currently we have a village post office about 100 yards from our house, but our address has been removed from the Canada post system and is now 20 odd Kilometers away. Financial costs and costs in time changing everything are now the problem of the customers, including our address from land registry we cannot change. Canada post are not very popular around here at the moment.
