Canada Post
What are peoples thoughts on Canada Post, have I been unlucky or is this normal?
I posted an item to Toronto on 2nd November at a rural post office in Yorkshire. According to tracking it was in Canada less than 24 hours after posting - so full credit to Royal Mail. Now a week later the latest tracking update, which is now with Canada Post says expected delivery within 3 to 7 working days. Now I know Canada's a big place but it does seem very slow especially considering the destination isn't exactly out in the sticks. |
Re: Canada Post
There's other threads about CP during normal conditions, and it can be a bit hit and miss. However, you do need to factor in Covid, as delivery times are being affected by it. I've had things ship from Burlington to Oakville take five or six days to arrive, and things from further afar come within a couple of days. I think they have suspended delivery time guarantees because of covid.

Re: Canada Post
When we lived in New Jersey mail to Toronto often took 3 to 4 weeks (approx 500 miles). While mail from NJ to the UK took 24 to 48 hours. That was pre-COVID.

Re: Canada Post
Canada Post is slow no doubt, often the longest part of a parcels trip is the last leg in Canada.
Mail coming from the US, will often get to Canada within 24-48 hours and then can take upwards of a week to 10 days to go the final leg. Canada Post is 2 things expensive and generally not efficient although some regional sorting facilities seem better than others. One reason when I lived near the border and would order from the US vs say a place in Ontario is I could have my item within 2-3 days vs upwards of 10 days and sometimes longer. |
Re: Canada Post
I continue to experience top service standards.
I reckon it's karma  |
Re: Canada Post
Canada post have just contacted me today for further details about the missing package i have with them. I posted it on Sep 21 to Europe . No sign of it.
it was sent airmail and the tracking info has no information other than it being collected from the post office. It was my first international etsy sale. I'm gutted to have lost the contents |
Re: Canada Post
It's thanks to Canada Post that I get a free month of Amazon Prime every time they fail to meet the guaranteed delivery date. Only ever happens with Canada Post, go figure.

But since moving in general my Amazon ordering is down like 80%, without same day and 1 day delivery, no advantage anymore for me to use Amazon. |
Re: Canada Post
Royal Mail have a long list of oopsies in my experience. The latest was sending a shirt that I ordered from the UK to China.
China post helpfully sent it onwards to Canada where it arrived in Vancouver. 10 days later it was delivered to me in Windsor. It took longer to get from Van to Windsor than it did UK to Van via China. Both a bit rubbish I suppose  |

That's because you're living in the centre of the universe...Moncton. :)
I’ve not missed one month of my BBC Good Food magazine in the 8 years I have been here...looking at Canadian positives, I would put the postal service down as a definite for me  |
Re: Canada Post
Canada Post sucks, even compared with USPS.

Re: Canada Post
it appears that Canada post may actually have found my package as they actually note it arriving in the destination country , mailed sep 21 , located in europe today

I ordered a Costco gift card from AirMiles. It was mailed 28th Sept...have not received it yet. |
Re: Canada Post
I sent a shoebox sized parcel, by surface from Canada to the UK in August. It arrived on Monday!

Re: Canada Post
I've only recently found out that if you have a PO box mailing address then Canada Post will never deliver a parcel to the house. The tracking info says that delivery was attempted but it hasn't been. Even though they have your delivery address they will take the heavy unwieldy parcel to the post office. We had to unbox a toolbox on wheels so we could get it in the car, may just as well have bought it from a store.

Re: Canada Post
I’ve never had anything get lost or go missing, but they are very expensive, sometimes more than UPS or FedEx. One trick I did learn is that anyone can sign up for the Canada Post small business account for sending stuff, there’s literally no restrictions - you get faster shipping with tracking for the same price as slower/untracked and the occasional free shipping day.

Re: Canada Post
I got letter mail today with a post mark of January 26th, a wee bit slow in getting to me...

Re: Canada Post
Seems its taking about a month for letter mail to go from BC location to BC location, one arrived today, postmarked Feb 26, today being March 29, took over a month.

That's only slightly longer than mail took from India to Britain in the 19th century. #notbyCanadaPost lol
I wish they would get their house in order. |
Re: Canada Post
For the first time ever, Canada Post is annoying me.
Last Wednesday I ordered some diabetic test strips from Shoppers website - there were big bonus points on offer. Delivery 5-8 days it said, so I (foolishly) figured by Thursday this week. I could stretch my supplies. Of course, if you don't count weekends, then 5-8 days would be today (Weds) to Monday next week. No matter though, my email acknowledgement last Weds said delivery expected Friday last week. Thursday last week I noticed the tracking information had expected delivery removed. On Friday it said delivery expected Tuesday this week. Well that's still okay. I'm used to seeing where a package is and on what date finally seeing it at Moncton (or Dieppe) and then the next date/time out for delivery. On Monday the tracking information was apparently updated but there was no new information. Tuesday it was updated but no new information. Today, Wednesday, it's been updated again but no new information. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/british...769f31f800.png I suppose they still have until next Monday, but because they said Friday and then Tuesday I didn't stretch my supplies out. |

Re: Canada Post
I'm happy; the items I ordered on Sunday night were packed up and mailed in Vancouver on Monday afternoon, processed in Richmond at supper time Monday, processed in Regina early this morning, and sent out for delivery 15 minutes ago, a day ahead of schedule.
