Canada Olympic Park
....Opens this Friday, 10th November! They have made a pile of snow and are busy grooming it for the kick-off (or whatever it is) :D
I have booked a series of 4 lessons for ladies only, on Wednesday evenings starting 29th Nov. I did have 4 lessons last year, but I am sure I shall have completely lost my confidence (shaky at best) so put myself down as a novice. :p They do split the group, depending on experience, into "never-evers", "got the basics" and "more advanced". There is one for snowboarders too, I believe. These ladies' evenings are quite a social event with cake and a chat before each one, and I was wondering if there are any new arrivals who might like to join us! The instructors are women too (before you get too excited), but they say it's been shown that women often learn better in an all-female group. They also have a daytime session on another weekday, but I work during the week. |
Re: Canada Olympic Park
I went up there on Sunday to have a nose around and it looks good.
What are the times of the lessons and the price? IS it cheaper of you bring your own stuff? |

I've looked up the link you posted, but I must be thick as I can't seem to work out how much it costs! Does it mean that it's $209 plus the necessary ski rentals? Rachel |

Rachel 4-Day Passholders $149.00 3-Day Regular $164.00 4-Day Regular $209.00 Rentals No thanks I don't need rentals. $0.00 3-Day Ski Rental Package with Helmet $45.00 4-Day Ski Rental Package with Helmet $60.00 err.... yes if you don't have a season ski pass the cost is $209.00 for the 4 sessions plus $60 for rentals if you need them. I suppose GST on top of that. The groups I was in last year had 6-8 ppl in, and a helper as well as the instructor, so you get quite individual attention if you need it. You ski for 1.5 hours .... I found that was more than long enough to start with! We decided to bite the bullet and pay for a family season pass as we did last year, and I have my own gear, as I wanted to practise between lessons, and the cost of hiring mounts up! I bought 2nd hand boots for $45, and some half-decent ladies skiis that were on special offer in Sportsmart. ps Are you still in Okotoks, Rachel?? |

[QUOTE ps Are you still in Okotoks, Rachel??[/QUOTE]
Yes, and loving it! I'm thinking of getting a ski pass, as have just sent off for a free one for my son who's in grade 5 and gets free skiing at some places,so I'll have to check into that. |
Re: Canada Olympic Park
Well, let me know if you decide to come on Weds nights. It's a bit of a trek from Okotoks, but still the nearest place to ski, and I like that they are open into the evenings, so it's possible to go after work!
If you are not working and can attend the morning lessons it'll probably be quieter, as all the kids come after school! I thought your renting in Okotoks was a temporary thing and you were coming to Calgary? Do you think you will stay there now? |
