I don't have a USB2 port, but I don't suppose that will make any difference except to how fast the info transfers onto it. Whether or not your computer supports USB2 or not depends on how old it is. If it is less than about five years old I would think it should support USB2. Hopefully someone who knows better than I will come along and answer for you. Cheers Steve |

Hey Biiink - you are right. I figured my new LCD TV should have a USB port - and sure enough it does. It actually has two of those pin ports like you used to plug things into on the back of the computer.
So - tell me - do I just copy the TV files onto the USB stick and shove it into the TV? What kind is your TV? Try a USB thingy and see if it works:) |
Re: Can someone explain DVDs to me please?
I could have a USB port, I just haven't got one. I have increased the RAM and got a bigger hard drive - spent my money on those rather than a USB port. It never seemed all that important - my photos transfer quickly enough for me.
My TV is called a Digimax - or some such. Never actually heard of it. I got it on sale at Future Shop as a floor model. It works just fine but the USB port is underneath the back in kind of a hard to access place. I guess the best way is to put a show on a memory stick and plug it in and see what happens. If it doesnt work its not like I cant use the memory stick for something else! |

I'm reliably informed that when a large manufacture has a range of DVD players at different prices due to the "added" features, that in fact the cheaper models have had the "added" features disabled. As it is cheaper to make a single circuit board for the range.

Re: Can someone explain DVDs to me please?
Well, I had a regular TV too. Then one day I was wandering around Future Shop and they had this 32 inch TV on sale for $799 reduced from $899 becuase it was a floor model. So I decided what the heck - when the guy rang it in - it came up as $699 - it didn't have a box - they wrapped it in cling wrap for me - but the price was right.
I didn't realize how much TVs had changed until my older son asked if we wanted their 35 inch Panasonic Gao (whatever its called) and I said surely you don't want to give away such a nice TV? Then I discovered that you can't buy those things any more! We can recycle electronics at the bottle return here. They have big TVs there - the old CRT kind. They are bigger than the one I have in my basement. People buy a flat screen and have no use for those boat anchors any more. I don't know if you can get a TV from the recycling place or if they sell them or just recycle the parts. |
