Re: Camping
I've been camping more in the past seven years than the previous thirty years, possibly because it seems over here it's a far more pleasant prospect than back in the UK. Granted I only went camping a couple of times in the UK, but it wasn't exactly fantastic.
Killbear seems to be the place we go to most, have to say I do rather like the place. Awenda is another favourite too. Last year we popped up to Tobermory for a week, wasn't too bad. As for how, always a tent, so a fully packed car usually ensues. We don't rough it completely, usually an air mattress and sleeping bags, but the last trip we used one of those bed in a box things, have to say it really did make it a much more pleasurable experience. I know it's been a good trip if I come back with sunburn :D |
Re: Camping
We tried the RV thing (older C class) and got fed up with not being able to just find a site to pitch upto.
Last year we did the tent camping thing, a weekend at Two Jacks lake, OH's first time in a tent, it brought out his inner caveman - really enjoyed it BUT the camping thing will only be occasionally I think, OH does prefer his creature comforts and motels don't really seem that much more expensive by the time you've paid your site and fire permits... We've just sold our boat, only went on kijiji today, just sold the canoe too last week, OH wants to look into getting a kayak or two (I think we should rent 1st to see how he gets on) I would quite like to learn dingy sailing, think that would be loadsa fun. |

Yes! And cheap too. Around here you can take a course at a club then continue to be a member and use the club's boats. Very little money involved and, if you avoid the highly technical sailors, great fun.

Re: Camping
Bought a new Hornet Platinum this year - put it on a seasonal site just over an hours drive from here - Since 24th May weekend it has been used every single weekend plus 2 full weeks
If the kids are amused then I get to be amused :D |
