hi all

I have a work trip coming up end of April time, this time hubby coming with me, we are there for a week, we have a full weekend then 4 weekday evenings free, outside of my work schedule, would be grateful for tips of things we can do over the weekend and anything for evening times, also what is your favourite restaurant, want to treat ourselves on the sat night to something really good!

We are staying at Delta Suites downtown.

I will be meeting up with some girls from here at some stage too, whoop!

Like everything except seafood, which I know isn't a great start! Hubby likes seafood though!

Blue Water Cafe in Yaletown is good. Its casual enough, but take some cash if you're going to have a couple of bottles of decent plonk there.

Not been there yet. Isn't it lots of seafood?

We went to Simply Thai around there at the weekend. Pretty nice :thumbup:

Stuff to do.

Breakfast at edible on Granville island followed by a walk around the shops and market. Head back across false creek via aquabus and have a walk around Stanley park. Grab dim sum lunch at shanghai Chinese bistro on Alberni, pop into Tiffany & Co to be treated to a nice gift, then head make your way to gastown for a wander and a drink. End the day at Simply Thai for dinner

Also check out grouse mountain up the gondola for lunch, maybe the capilano expensive bridge.

You''re right, I should of actually have taken notice of nikki's exception. :o
In that case go to Le Crocodile for a bit of French nosh. There's a lot of places that are okay, but like the country in general, they're all just a bit mediocre although they think they're 'world class'. You might as well save your money and eat somewhere casual/a bit shit. It really doesn't matter where, their menus are all the bloody same, I'd go for the extra spicy chicken wings at Earl's.

It's a culinary school but you can eat at their restaurant. Fab! Just fab! The food was first class and really reasonable for such high quality and in a central location. The service is second to none too because the students are being marked for their work. Don't let that put you off though because the staff and students were really friendly. The head honcho even gave my OH a loaf of artisan bread to take with us because we'd said how lovely it was.

It's made me want to go right now. yum......slurp.....

In recent months my visits to Vancouver have included eating at:

Irish Heather, Gastown - atmosphere lively, food a bit meh.
Chambar, 562 Beatty St - excellent food and service.
La Terraza, 1088 Cambie Street - a little pricey, but recommended.
The Fish House, Stanley Park - felt old fashioned, food average.
Gotham Steakhouse, 615 Seymour St - busy, noisy, great food.
