Calgary peeps - resturant recommendations
OK so it is our 10th wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks time, and Mr Chookie and I fancy going out for dinner.
Not being the sort of people who normally eat out anywhere, we are totally clueless as to where to go... Can anyone recommend somewhere - I fancy treating him to somewhere posh (but not too stuffy) as I have just started a new job and want to treat him. |

Re: Calgary peeps - resturant recommendations
Well, we have been to the bside bistro at the Bears Den (Bearspaw) and its really nice, excellent food, but not paying the full Bears Den prices!
I dont do stuffy, but I found this place a nice relaxed atmosphere with a cosy fire! http://www.bsidebistro.com/ I have always enjoyed dinner up the calgary tower, not the largest menu, but fab view of the city at night! http://sky360.ca/ I haven't been here yet, but its on my list! Looks a beautiful setting! http://www.crmr.com/theranche/ This place is another on my would love to visit list, but a number of friends have been and loved it! Apparently you pay a per plate charge, and then turn your sign to green or red depending on if you want more food presented to your table or not! http://www.bolerocalgary.com/ Hope you have a fab evening, and let us know where you go! And Happy Anniversary!!! x |

This is a thread that demonstrates who has money!
I agree with all of the above, getting a reservation may be tricky for some depending upon which one you choose and when. |
Re: Calgary peeps - resturant recommendations
Another really excellent restaurant in downtown Calgary is Divino - great food, and less $$$ than Teatro.
I didn't realise it was owned by Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts. |

At the top end for prices, along with Teatro, is Rouge - both are great.
Chefs Table in Kensington when i was there a year or so ago they did a good tasting menu, as do Teatro. Also Muse in Kensington. Petite on 10th Ave is tiny but does really good food, Catch at the Hyatt upstairs is good and fairly pricey too but the downstairs still does good seafood at a little more reasonable prices for Calgary which can be hard to find! Lucky enough to get to a few of these with work through the year and the odd birthday dinner too. Side note - I don't find many places in Calgary as too stuffy, even the top-end places, service is usually pretty relaxed and they don't care if you are in jeans etc |

River Cafe is one of my favourites, and Rouge.
Bonterra is nice too, not as expensive but consistently good food and atmosphere. I quite like Redwater Grill but think it's a bit overpriced. Went to Boxwood on 4th street for lunch the other day, I think they're open for dinner. Just a small place, cafe style but lovely food and service. Under same management as River Cafe.Reasonable prices. They don't take reservations though. Rush is fairly new, good food but expensive. Notable in Bowness is supposed to be good, but I haven't been there. Lots of lovely places to eat here, have a happy Anniversary:) |
