British ISIS member killed in Syria

A week or two ago, I made a comment on this forum under the Las Vegas shootings thread, that an Islamic terrorist doesn't have to have a foreign sounding name or be none white to commit such atrocities....

Almost immediately I had offended posters jumping on me saying who? and why would you say such a thing?

I responded in saying Im not a person to remember such names...after all why would I? I like to remember who won Oscar for best actor in 1978 but I dont care to remember terrorist names.

Well here is a perfect example that is ...hopefully she is no longer with us....

Personally I have no time for any extremism, there is no reason or excuse for it, but somehow people get drawn into it..

She was a well known UK convert to Islam and to being a member of ISIS and was used as a recruiter to get to people via Social Media like Facebook, I'm sure only her very immediate family are even slightly upset by her demise which was in June or July, No RIP from me or the vast majority of people in the UK

I thought it was pretty ridiculous how you were jumped on when you made that comment. There have been many examples in the media of convert terrorists. But sometimes it suits ones agenda to ignore this then they can be offended.
I think it is a sign of our times that people like to get offended themselves or get offended on someone else's behalf. It's all quite pathetic.

No tears from me either. On the radio they discussed whether it was morally right that her radicalized 12 yo son was killed too, as it was a drone strike. Given the number of Syrian (etc) children killed in that awful war, that seemed a non-issue to me.

A Muslim converting to Christianity is signing your own death warrant yet we Christians do nothing when other Christians convert to Islam. In her case we should have made an exception.

Surely an exception was made; nothing wasn't done.

And we're not all Christians here either.

Too true-over here in the UK it is called virtue signalling.

Well then just be happy you have the freedom to choose, some people don't have the same luxury. I was born into a Christian family C of E but I choose to be a pessimist and not an atheist.

What would you and your Christian friends do? How do you mean an exception, you mean forgive her ?

It does seem to be a new type of behaviour nowadays, some people seem to look for ways to get offended! You could almost write a comedy sketch about it!

Anyway when I saw this in the news, I just wanted to set the record straight.

Why would anyone choose to be a pessimist?
