Default Brexit pigeons coming home to roost

The Daily Mail is upset to discover that the result of years of campaigning against freedom of movement and taking back control of immigration has resulted in.... erm... well, you know...

They do not want freedom of movement for foreigners but expect it for themselves ? Welcome to the mindset of post-imperial Britannia !

Did you want this moved to one of our other sub forums that might be a better fit than Canada?

If you think it's better there, I presume TIO?

EDIT: It's already been posted there, no need to repost.

I don't know if that idea of an electronic travel authorization is totally out of the question for Brits travelling to the EU in 2021 and onwards? If there is no agreement / deal with the EU, I would largely suspect that this will be the case together with a 3 months maximum stay in any given calendar year?

Need to normalize "Immigrants" ...... we aren't Expats if living permanently abroad , we're immigrants. One word used for bloody Brits, another for johnny foreigner.

No, not really.

I'm in several minds about this, with roots in Canada, the UK, various EU nations, and now, by emigration, Australia.

My ability to move between countries relatively freely has kept me employed, and a lot of other staff employed, both local and foreign, over decades.

I'm looking for the same types of opportunities for my children. Brexit didn't exactly help, as the OP highlights.

It's unfortunate for the Remain voting Brits in Europe, but just desserts for the Brexit voting folk. A few even on this forum.

Gunships in the Channel. Beyond pathetic to even propose it.

They were in the "EU needs us more than we need them" camp. Funny, not hearing that old line much these days.
