Didn't think expats were allowed to vote as per high court ruling, guess I was mistaken

Yes that is a surprise. When I completed the necessary registration a while back and they confirmed all was in order, they said that the form would be sent out 4 days before the vote. At that point I dismissed the idea of seeing it through.

Hi
Apparently the rules are if you were registered to vote in the last 15 years, with a UK address you are allowed a postal vote, but in year 16 if you are still out of the uk you cant vote.
strange fact i find is that if you are out of the uk but in an eu country more than 15 years you cant vote
cheers

The rules say you can vote in parliamentary and european elections for 15 years from leaving the UK. you have to register as an overseas voter at the last council where you were on the electoral register. Google overseas electors forms. Download, fill in and send to your last council. Quite simple really.

Vote to LEAVE. You are living outside of the UK and if you truly believed to vote remain in the EU then you wouldn't have left the UK or you would have moved to a EU country
Canada isn't part of any Union and we seem to be doing quite well

+ 1 in spades

Just because you physically remove yourself from a country doesn't stop you caring deeply about it's social and political future.

Vote to leave. There is an upside. The GBP will take a dive for a year or two and we can buy cheap UK goods and GBP and make a bundle!

Maybe, if the economy collapses, we can all afford to go home!

OP, why would an expat that has been living outside the UK forever & a day, with likely zero intention of returning back, why should they give a toss about the EU referendum?

Conceivably, in or out might affect pension uprating.
