The branding is (almost) everything? "We've been making this aircraft for 50 years!"

Yes, but they haven't been making THIS aircraft for 50 years!

Bit like renaming the latest Ford "Model T"!

"as a result of new data that they received this morning", which implies there's more information on problems with the thing.

Two US pilots reported last night as filing informal complaints that with autopilot on, the nose pointed down & they only recovered manually by disengaging it as well.

Yeah no way he could avoid doing it once Canada did it.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out now.

I gather Garneau said he'd seen, or been told about, a Satellite image that showed the Ethiopian plane having trouble with the nose dipping.

Daughter is coming to visit us, due to leave Halifax this coming Saturday and returning the following Saturday, travelling with WestJet. I talked to her as soon as I heard the Garneau media interview. She's checked with her travel agent .......... she wasn't booked on a Max 8 in the first place, so no problems with having to re-book

phew!

Not satellite imagery, but rather on-board tracking data now streamed to Satellite via a Canadian tech start up. Still in its trial phase they were Ble to provide more data on the Ethiopian crash before the black box was analyzed. https://paxex.aero/2019/03/aireon-ad...max-grounding/

A great use of tech and nice to see a Canadian company at the forefront.
