Default Blue Mountain

Hi all, has anyone been to Blue Mountain in the summer? Is it as good as it looks online? Thinking of a girls weekend with my daughter in August, it's that or a wine tour in Niagara with a spa and a pedicure in the mix...

If you time it right you can go to the Elvis festival in Collingwood while you are up there (this year might be the last one) Collingwood Elvis Festival - World's Largest Elvis Festival

Personally I'd do the wine tour in Niagara falls. Blue Mountain is ok though.

There used to be a Blue Mountain Pottery based in Collingwood, ON. Iit closed in the early 2000s, but for a about 50 years it was among THE pottery to have if you were a collector. There's lots of it on ebay

I keep looking at the title of this thread wondering who else would know about it

Depending on how far you have to travel but Blue Mountain ON is like a mini mini Whistler BC. The difference is that Whistler offers a lot more than just skiing hence why its so packed even in the summer months.

There's loads to do in Whistler. I was amazed when we went up there in May some years ago.

If you like art, there is a super new gallery, the Audain Art Museum which specialises in Northwest Coast First Nations, much of collected by Mr Audain.

There's also a night light walk. Gondolas up the mountains. Great restaurants. At least one spa. Golf (?!!)

But I'm going to Ontario to visit my daughter, not to BC to visit Whistler, can't see that Whistler would offer any more than Water on, Banff and Jasper really.

Only time I've visited Blue Mountain in summer was for a conference, so not a lot of time to explore the "things to do" stuff. There were certainly plenty of people about, though, lots of families (most with younger kids), gaggles of walkers and hikers, etc. That was a few years ago - it looks like the resort management folks have put a lot of effort in the last three to four years to make the place more appealing in the off-season, so I don't imagine you'd have an opportunity to be bored.

I'm with James, though - if it were up to me I'd be on the Niagara wine tour...

Sorry PP I’ve been meaning to ask my daughter about BM. She has been several times out of the ski season. I will try to to get back to you over the weekend.

There's a few nice pubs / coffee shops etc., in Collingwood and you can always go to Wasaga Beach - reputedly the longest (sand) freshwater beach in the world. https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Tourism-g...Vacations.html

Thank you all so much for your replies. DD is incredibly stressed, I haven't seen her since last August. DD and partner have given notice on their apartment, they are moving to Guelph (he works at nestle water), she is starting school at Sheridan (i think, in Brampton), she will be travelling by bus and will have to find a new job or two too, so I want to give her a bit of fun. I do wish we had saved more for here education so she didn't have to stress so much. Not sure I'm completely understanding why and where they want to move but it must make sense to them.

Guelph is nice - my nephew is a professor at Guelph Uni

Sorry to hear your daughter is stressed though - a relaxing few days away sounds like a great idea to cheer her up, together with seeing her Mum (which is going to put a big grin on her face).
you find a good place to stay..
