I thought that assuaging everyone's discomfort was the new norm.
I have no feelings on toilet legislation. I have frequently taken my adult disabled daughter into toilets not aligned with her birth gender. No one has ever expressed discomfort to me about my so doing, perhaps because they anticipate the response they would receive. I am not aware that misaligned toileting has led her to any confusion about her orientation.

Similarly, at concerts and sporting events, I have often seen people who seem to be women using toilets apparently misaligned with their gender. I suppose they could all be gender neutral persons but I suspect the motivation is less transsexual crusading and more queue avoidance. As above, I am untroubled by where people piss. I doubt legislation would make any difference at all in the instances I cite.

Who cares about it, not me....this is why I vote for representative in parliament,so he or she can get their knickers in a twist about it, because I can't be arsed with it.

Good point about the democratic process, and why we have a vote.

So u are happy to see segregation and in your face racism in a Canada ? No comment when a few of our population will most likely not go to a hospital now !

Do you care about gas plants, the fair hydro loan debacle, or anything ? Or just go every few years and vote Liberal because their glorious leader is sexy looking?

It's a slippery slope, it pays to care sometimes

My life is busy doing other things, family, job, life....

I elect someone who will be advised by experts to make these decisions, when you allow the population to vote on everything, you get a BREXIT.

Quite. The original basis of the argument for wearing a total head covering is not that the woman has the freedom of choice to do so; it is that it is necessary in order to prevent the woman's "modesty" from being compromised. It is an insult to the majority of men, and it is a backward step in acknowledging gender equality.

I don't have time for any religion but nearly all of them contain some requirement for modesty of female dress - rarely of male dress, you note. Covering your entire head is not really an act of mere modesty though, is it? It is regressive, oppressive, almost insanity.

Never thought of it quite that way, but so true. What surprises me is why so many feminists don't recognise the practice for what it is. And that includes Justin!

How do we explain why some women of a certain religion actually want to cover their faces? And are saying it's their choice, are they brain washed or is it really their own choice
