Bike mad people?

Re: Bike mad people?
So a guy near me just called, says he will take my offer of $1500 I made a month ago for his RZ350 1988 model, it is cosmetic challenged, he was asking much more but says he can't be arsed advertising it, I really hope he don't check the prices of these things before I get there lol
I am away working so won't get back till Tuesday :@(

Not me both bikes are in need of some repair. Spotted lots of bikes out and about in the Hamilton area, including a RZ 350!
Very few brave souls still riding here.

Re: Bike mad people?
Riding my scooter still, last week was a little challenging but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be in the rain.
I won't ride it in snow or ice, but rain seems fine for the most part. A few at work ride their scooters year round, but I am not brave enough to try it in snow, will have to figure out alternate transport if we get snow and ice this winter like last.

Heated grips (best invention EVER!), heated seat (never used once), adjustable screen, shaft drive (essential for high mileage riding), 10,000 mile service interval, brilliant stereo, 132bhp, simply astonishing handling, 50mpg... it is a quite brilliant machine.
I rode it over to Germany and it's here with me now. Not quite the same mileage as last year but probably still 10,000+ this year.
If at all possible, a bike is my preferred commute. I'll probably hang on to the Trophy forever now as the resale values aren't great, but I would love to acquire a Thruxton R as well. Just haven't got spare time for a fun bike just now.

Re: Bike mad people?
Last year was a one-off. I had taken a contract which I knew was going to be a 100-mile a day commute (50 miles each way) along fast UK single carriageway A roads, in tractor country. A journey that could take 1hr 20mins by car would only take 35-40 mins by bike. So I bought a Triumph Trophy SE which would allow me to do the trip at warp-speed in transcontinental comfort... and it did, oh how it did! In just over a year I lost only about 5 days to weather. Hail, rain, sleet, snow and wind and I took the bike. The only thing that made me take the car was ice.

Re: Bike mad people?
As you are likely aware, there are a number of decent hilly rides within spitting distance of where I live (lots of areas around highway 22, there is also an amazing road from 22x to Millarville) and I have done a few decent road trips in the Rockies. The Going to the Sun highway is very different on a bike.
The one thing I always try to avoid is riding on highways. Going 110 kms in a dead straight line on a bike is not my idea of a fun time.
Did you ride when you were over here?

Re: Bike mad people?
No, I didn't ride in Calgary. The 'no filtering' put me off, along with the boring straight roads and the appalling attention span of local drivers
