Three of my boys are Canadian Citizens; I have PR status as have my other two boys; and one neither. I have to think long term, there is a stong possibility that one or more of them will live in Canada at some point in the future. I hope to return this year, keep my PR status via my Canadian husband, I believe that as long as we are together I can keep renewing my PR status. I did not want to return to the UK - I would have happily stayed. So I guess this trip will be a bit of a reccie! :fingerscrossed: |

What's your view on Britain since you've been back?
Life is deffinately harder; for everyone, I dont know anyone who isnt feeling the pressure financially; us included. The general mood is a little defused by the excitement of the Olympics and and Jubilee; without that focus life would be gloomier. The benifits overhaul has caused a great deal of hardship, especially to those who need it most, not those who abuse the system. Pay freezes and reductions in pensions, for which everyone has to work longer for; is causing unrest/distress. The job and housing markets are stagnant; although we have not lost any money buying our home, we have not made anything either. I am currently looking for work following a long illness - for every one job pproximately 250 people apply! But I do know that in Canadia these problems persist also; so basically it is about quality of life not financial gain. |

My Wife was 12 years out of Canada on a PR and she had no problem re-entering the country once she proved she was married to a CDN citizen. |

Does that mean that I dont have to re-enter Canada before it expires; I thought I had to do that. Do I just have to wait til I re-enter at any point in the future? Did she have to re-apply for PR? Do you know does that affect my children with PR status? I think I might have my wires a bit crossed somewhere? |

If you're married to, and living with, a Canadian Citizen, you don't have to be in Canada to keep your PR. Same goes for the kids.
