Re: BC Gas Price
Government better speed up more rapid transit across the province, at this rate, it will be too expensive to commute to a job....
Is $2/liter on the way this year?

It's going to get to the point where we wont be able to really go anywhere, unless the government bucks up and improves transit even if ridership is low at first, got to offer a good efficient transit system to attract people, most don't have 90 minutes of spare time each direction to get somewhere that realistically should take no more than 30 minutes (15-20 by car) on transit if transit was actually efficient.

Re: BC Gas Price
How much do you think rapid transit across the region will cost?
and who will pay for it?
and how long will it take to build??
They're just starting the extension out to Arbutus and Broadway, and that will take around 5 years

Re: BC Gas Price
If I ever have a real job again and its close enough to home, something like that could work, winter might be iffy
At the moment I do independent contract work with various apps doing deliveries so have to use a car for those, but at the rate gas prices are going, not sure how much longer this sort of work will remain viable, after the higher insurance cost ($100 extra per month to do deliveries with your car on top of the usual insurance) I still turn a small profit, but hourly after expenses is like $5-$7 per hour a good day can get up to $10 all depends on the tips, so its getting close to not being worthwhile, but it still brings in enough to bridge the month, but yeah not exactly grand money......
I did manage to commute in winter on a gas powered scooter, so I guess a bike isn't much different, scooter was average of 50-55km/h, and at $1.50/liter took about $9/week in gas and insurance was about $1/day so pretty economical too, I regret selling it sometimes.... It was a 2006 model which was 2 stroke engine, not sure if the 4 stroke 49cc scooters are as good, mixed reviews on the 4 stroke engines of that size.

Have you considered an electric bicycle for your work commute, the one with power assist? something like this;

Re: BC Gas Price
My Daughter delivers pizza on the weekend and she complains about the price of gas.
I have often wondered about those independent delivery drivers, all my Amazon packages get delivered by intelcom courier and from what I have read, they are independent as well. I wonder how their pay structure works? per package, per km, per hour etc.

Oh dear, I feel your pain, a bike won't work for your line of work then

Re: BC Gas Price
$85 to fill up the SUV from a quarter tank yesterday. It hurts.
We wanted to go electric when we were car shopping but there is literally nothing available for the size we need for our household. Closest thing was a Toyota Highlander Hybrid but A) that still consumes gas and B) it was the most painfully boring car to drive, so we opted for a Subaru Ascent. I'm hoping when my lease is up at the end of 2024 we can return it and there will be a good size somewhat affordable fully electric SUV available because I am done with these gas prices.
