Re: BC Fires
They've finally declared a state of emergency for BC, because they need to military help.
No help, or only limited help, coming from other provinces, or the US because there are fires all over the palae. Australian firefighter can't leave their country. There are apparently 100 Mexican fire fighters on the way.
But the big help now seems to be patrolling evacuated areas, and the military can help the RCMP with that.

Apparently B.C. wildfires are now burning 10 times more than in 1990s: https://www.nationalobserver.com/202...fuel-emissions
This is how Carbon Dioxide driven climate change becomes exponentially worse as more things burn which in turn releases even more CO2. At least with forests *eventually* they will grow back and recapture the CO2 but that will take decades.

In 2020 California fires produced 91 million metric tons of CO2, 25% more than fossil fuel burning, which is in part what led to these fires getting worse. 2020 CO2 from fires is almost double the 2 previous worse years, 2008 and 2018 which were around 46 metric tons. 2020 was an exceptionally bad fire year in California, no other year has yet come close to.

Re: BC Fires
A crew of Australian firefighters were on their way to British Columbia as the province battles hundreds of wildfires.
In total, 34 Australian firefighters were scheduled to arrive in Vancouver on Tuesday evening. The crew includes a nine-person management team, which includes specialised leadership workers and technical specialists.
The Australian crews will live and work in "bubbles" to minimize COVID-19 risks while in B.C., according to the province.

Yes, we also have a number from Mexico and from other provinces in Canada.
They are all going to work in their own little bubbles, after they have completed quarantine requirements!

If they haven't been vaccinated in Australia yet, BC should offer them vaccines while here, would be a good gesture and they may also appreciate it.

Re: BC Fires
The smoke from the wild fires has finally reached Vancouver. The sun is an orange globe in the sky.

A couple more decades of scorched earth and humans might start to wonder if the problem is real. I mean, the rest of the humans.

Re: BC Fires
Here in Kamloops we now have two huge fires closing in on the outskirts of the City. I haven’t seen blue sky in weeks, what a shitty summer.

Re: BC Fires
the neighborhood’s east of where I live all went on evacuation alert or order at 10 PM last night so I don’t think it will be long.
If you zoom in on the map and look at east Kamloops you can see that huge monster of a fire working its way into Kamloops city. Time to pack my bags I think.
