I'm behind a DNS and TV Catchup works just fine - ITV on right now. I used that service a ton while I was in the UK.

Perhaps we should adopt the Canadian style of rebellion and write a very strongly worded letter to the BBC expressing our disgust that expats living outside of the UK still want to watch BBC and would gladly pay for a subscription without resorting to illegal means of watching programmes.

I don't watch it unless included in a cable package so I won't be writing the letter.

From what I hear. is that a license will be required as it is was not legal - but the BBC went to court and it was overturned. However, they will not be able to check for this overseas but in UK they will be re-deploying the old TV detector vans to monitor peoples 'packet use' of the internet to determine whether they are streaming the Iplayer without paying a license fee. So - if you are using a VPN - its a non story - and if you or FL wants to complain he can write to Anne Robinson - Points of View.

Are you serious

I think it is worth 40p per day. I cannot stand North American channels with adverts every 12 minutes - drives me nuts.

Completely agree. There's lots of great stuff on BBC, way better than most North American stuff. (That said the specialty American channels like HBO and Showtime do produce a lot of shows I like.)

Indeed. As I said in another thread a couple of days ago...
...once you see stuff produced by the likes of HBO and Showtime and, yes, Netflix, the CBS type stuff just doesn't "do it" anymore. It becomes fodder.

How much of that half hour content is actually talent?

What's the current cost of a TV Licence?
I have only used iPlayer once, and that was when they launched the app for the 4th Gen Apple TV. When using Unblock-us, it did seem to work.
Given I've stopped using unblock-us since Netflix started messing about (my money is on this being a hard request from Disney to allow their content onto Netflix, so they actually had to do something about it.) I couldn't use iPlayer anyway, not without getting some other service, and not sure if it's worth the cost.

A reduced level whereby iPlayer only is used would be good.

"Mobile TV detection vans will be used to root out viewers watching BBC channels online without a licence, it’s been revealed.

The corporation is reportedly ready to deploy a fleet of high-tech vehicles capable of monitoring wi-fi activity to detect those watching the BBC iPlayer without a licence."

I wasn't talking about North America though!

I was talking about how sh*t BBC has become over the years

BBC is just Eastenders and other cr*p. There was a few things I watched on iplayer but Call the Midwife and Peaky Blinders will come out on Netflix

I have used Filmon here in Philippines for 3 years. costs me $9.99 a month for 11 hours of recording. Once you've recorded a programme, downloaded and saved it, then you can free up that time used . so it's 11 hours at one time, not 11 hours a month as some people on another forum think! To me its worth every cent as I don't have to bother with VPNs - which would cost me at least the same. Quality is perfectly OK played on our 42" Panasonic. You can stream free, but it's a lower quality unless you pay for HD. We did stream the olympics opening ceremony and it never hiccuped.

someone sent me this today & in view of the licensing charges for BBC IPlayer, has anyone using a VPN/DNS tried 'catch up TV'?

Don't know exactly how it works ..... anyone provide input on this?

TVCatchup - Watch Live TV And Never Miss A Show Again!

I cannot get this for the reason that I do not have a VPN or DNS

.
I just added this on my browser (Google Chrome) for free via the Google Web Store and so far I can watch shows on the BBC Iplayer including the Olympics BBC version.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...lcahgdjn?hl=en

Who knows how long it will work.
