Bathtub within the bedroom?

Just wondering the following. I recently was on business in Montreal and stayed in a hotel room where there was an additional bathtub within the bedroom in addition to the normal washroom/bathroom. As I have never seen this kind of arrangement before, I was wondering if that was a unique Quebec thing? I've never seen this, not even in France.

Was the tub a normal sized in the bedroom area? Or a larger 2 person Jacuzzi type tub?

In some hotels they will have suites marketed towards couples that will have a larger tub with Jacuzzi like jets for romantic get a ways.

I have however not seen a hotel with 2 normal sized tubs in the room.

Hourly rates by any chance? ;)

It was a larger 2 person Jacuzzi type tub as described by Jsmth321, thus it's probably more for a couple, newly in love, or recently married...... :-)

There were no hourly rates, however the neighborhood didn't really appeal for a couple for a romantic getaway either.....

That whole setting in mind contributed to my confusion....

I've stayed at such places in the USA. Jacuzzi style baths in a time share place in Orlando Florida, and a boutique style bed and breakfast place in Port Townsend in Washington. Other places have the jacuzzi outside, but these places didn't have a porch in one case, and a small one for the other.

I've seen that before in the US and in England

Our family council house in UK had a bathtub in the kitchen. I recall it had a hinged cover and was normally used as a table for eating....I was in the RAF so only ever visited and never used the tub.
Years later the Council lifted modular bathrooms over the roofs into the back yard of all the terraced houses and added as an extension....and the tubs were removed.

We stayed in a terrible motel in Muskegon MI, terrible in the sense of the location being very rough. That suite had a hot tub in the bedroom.

On Escape to the Country many properties have bathtubs in the bedroom. I suppose the idea is intended to be erotic but I always think of soggy carpets and wet hair on the pillow.

Well there is a VERY posh and upmarket place called Cowley Manor Hotel just south of Cheltenham in the UK that is a boutique type hotel. A number of the rooms have a bath in the bedroom itself - it is a regency stately home but inside it is ruthlessly modern Scandinavian design.

I lived in a flat that had that!

As to the jacuzzi tub, I seem to recall having a similar set up at a hotel in Niagara Falls.

:)

Any hotel room that has a novelty bath/jacuzzi in the room just sounds yucky.

Judging from my experience checking hotels for our two stays there, it's almost compulsory. Vibrating beds a bit less common.

(what is the idea behind vibrating beds anyway...you just couple up and let the bed do the rest?)

Seems to be something of a vibrator theme on here today.

I viewed a house that had a bath in the bedroom. I can't say I like the idea, but the bath was fancy enough that they could have made it work had they not also installed a toilet right next to it.

Oh that's so wrong. So very, very wrong.

We once looked at a large Victorian style house, in the northern fringes of the suburbs of NYC. It need a LOT of renovation, as the bathrooms, and kitchen, and presumably all the plumbing, dated from the 1950's or earlier. The plastered walls were destroyed (heavily cracked), and the single-glazed windows were obsolete and beyond repair. But what was oddest was that the owners had turned over the house to their adult children and moved onto a flat they had created in the attic.

The attic "living space" was one giant "room", probably close to 1,500sqft, with completely unfinished walls, the "ceiling" was just the underside of the roof shingles, and there was daylight visible around the chimney. It was completely self-contained, with the bath on a raised platform on one side fairly near the door, a toilet nearby, and an area that approximated to a kitchen. It was dusty and unpleasant, as you can imagine an unfinished attic would be, and as it lacked roof insulation it must have been as cold as hell in winter, and likely unpleasantly warm in summer. I often wondered what possessed them to come up with such a bizarre living arrangement.

Was it a halfway house for the rehabilitation of ex cons so they had something they were at least used to?

It was actually a big 4 poster bed with a large double bath with black tiled steps up each side. Without the toilet I could see that a certain type of person would think it was a romantic in that trashy way that north americans like.

It's the same as a waterbed - designed for lazy lovers. You know, one push and there's 6 more behind it.

Yes, but one prick and it's all over.:rofl:

(I'm sure I can get away with that word as it's used with medical connections all the time ;))

Stayed in a god awful hotel in Toronto that had a pink jacuzzi in the bedroom plus en suite. Son (then 6) loved it😂😂

Vibrating beds were common in Niagara Falls back in the 70's. You used to have to put a dime in the slot.
