Ok my OH has intimated that I make take lots of abuse for this (I might enjoy it though!!). However, here goes:-

I was just wondering what a bottle of Baileys Irish Cream may happen to retail at in Canada and is it easy to purchase. I have a little of a dependancy to BIC (not really in a bad way.............honest!! I'm not an alcoholic, I just love Baileys).

I'm just working out finances and how much cash to put away for it ;) ;)

Thanks in advance and can you keep the Lauder Bashing to a minimum please or I may have to resort to..........well, drinking Baileys!!!! :eek:

In Ontario it's roughly 15 quid for a 75cl bottle.

Goodness that's quick! Wow £15 for 75cl is a little harsh. Duty free all the way then (hubby doesn't really drink and won't be wanting - or getting - anything so it will be Baileys all the way..........mmmmmmmm wonder if there is any medical justification for your children needing to have some as well so they can buy me a couple of bottles ;)

I guess my price for guests coming to stay will have to be a bottle or two.

Iain K - I'm too lazy to make it. I have tried it before though and it was pretty damn good.

It's a little sad I know but I do really like it and it's a treat most of the time (honest). I usually only buy at at Christmas time (so beginning of December to end of January!!!!!) as I'd be the size of a dinosaur!!

Hey they do a stonking 1.75L bottle of the stuff here though. Maybe $55 from memory. Still amazes me that it disappears so quickly...they clearly sell it in leaky bottles here.:D

Wow, I think I saw it in Michigan for 16 or 17 dollars a 750ml bottle. Still couldn't drink it though ;)

You mean.....you dont like Baileys! An acquired taste maybe!!

I guess you and Steve P will need to share a bottle of something else.

I don't know how the booze retail system works in Alberta but, if it's anything like it is in Ontario and Quebec, you may have to get used to not always being able to buy what you want. My local SAQ has not heard of Pimms and I have to go to Ottawa for Madeira. The supply of Pride is patchy.

As per biiinnk's suggestion, it is probably best to stock up on Bailey's at Duty Free in the USA when travelling there. One thing the US does well is cheap booze. The prices on spirits are good, but to me the beer prices on duty free aren't worth it as most of what they sell is swill (IMHO).

There is another brand of irish cream liquor which escapes me right now which is much cheaper than Bailey's....

Incidentally, are you familiar with the SAQ Depot down near the Portage? We only found it recently. If, like us, you get through a fair bit of wine, you can save a packet by bulk-buying there (like 15% for a couple of cases).

If you buy at the "Duty Free" stores that's true but we usually load up at one of the discount warehouses such as Applejack's or Trader Vics. They keep a broad range of beers at sensible prices.

I've never stopped at the duty free going to/from the US, I can't figure out the rules. When are you allowed to bring duty free back? And is it much cheaper than US supermarkets/liquor stores? When I smoked I know cigarettes weren't - well, I was in Virginia, that might be something to do with the price, but a carton at the 7/11 was well under what the duty free was at Dulles...

The price I quoted for Baileys was from Meijer or Kroger. I do remember one price at the moment - bought a bottle of flavoured Vodka - Smirnoff brand - last week and it was 10.99 USD. I see that the same bottle at the LCBO is 24.75 :blink:

We occasionally get asked to pay duty on boxes of plonk - 5L costs 10 USD, nasty stuff, the duty is about 12 CAD - still cheaper than LCBO I think. They've never made us pay on declared beer or coolers, not sure why.

I bought a 6-pack at a convenience store in Wyoming a couple of months back. I was amazed at how cheap it was. I think it was about half what I'd pay here.
