back ground checks

Hi All
I work in Oakville, and due to recently acquired contract I am required to obtain a background check, but as I have only lived in Canada for the last 8 months I need to have one done from the UK, I told to apply to the http://www.disclosurescotland.co.uk/apply/
I can`t apply online as I am not resident in the UK.
The customer has requested a standard check which needs to be applied for by the company, which they will not do, so is there another route that i can go, where I can apply for a standard check myself.
Any info would be greatly recieved

best wishes

Peter Roulston.

Surely if you offer to pay for it, they would apply for it?

Really don't think there's another way round it, as an individual can only get a basic report, as far as I know.

Hi Peter

I needed something similar and was asked to apply myself so I went for a DPA Subject Access Check from our old Police Force - cost £10 and was here in about 2 weeks; only concern was sending my documents in the mail but it all went smoothly

http://www.wiltshire.police.uk/index...129&Itemid=156

They sent the original directly back to me as they had to return my ID but my employer accepted the document from me.

I meant to add that Wiltshire Police advised me you can make the reuest from any UK Police Force as they all check the same Police Computers - Wiltshire didn't have a long queue and the girl was helpful so I went there.
