Applying for UK passport from Canada

Well I sent my application off to the UK and tracked it. It was signed for in the UK on the 14th March and yesterday 21st March DHL tried to deliver a package but I was out. I was so sure because of the quick turn around that it must have been rejected for some reason, and also sure that as I missed DHL yesterday they would tell me I had to go to their depot to pick it up. However, much to my surprise DHL actually delivered it today and I have my spanking new British Passport!!! Wow what a service.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

You might have "yesterday's" package still to come.

I had mine done a few weeks ago - the cancelled passport arrived one day and the new one the next.

It seems that UK time runs a great deal faster than Canadian time. The question is why and who keeps forgetting to wind the Canadian clock.

Nope, they delivered two parcels, one had the old cancelled passport in it, the other the new one, so all done and completed, file closed

So....is the new passport different from the mid 2000s one then, and also why didn't you send it to the US (they moved the Canadian processing office there didn't they) to renewal?

Probably because all British passport applications from overseas have to be sent to the UK now. It's been a while (~3 or so years?) since this was instigated.

That explains it then....like I alluded to, the last time I renewed, I sent it to the US.

The original UK biometric passport (introduced '05-06) was modified in 2010 I believe to the most current design which just has a tad more bold lettering and some updated security features than the original '06 one.

We're on the third biometric design now. We've had birds, landscapes and we're now on 'creative' Britain.

Bar the addition of the biometric logo in 2006 the cover design hasn't changed since 1988.
