Apple or Android

Android without hesitation. Have had both and prefer the, "it works with everything" aspect of the Android.

Apple. All my stuff is in iBooks, AppStore, and iTunes now, cos I already have a iPod Touch and an iPad, so it will just seamlessly appear on the phone from a little fluffy white cloud

Those I know who have androids are all swearing by them, publicly. In private they are all swearing at them and sending them back for repairs/replacements.
I currently have 3 iphones of various generations and all pre-owned. They have been completely faultless.

I'd go android as I don't want to be a revenue stream for apple. But pretty much as Tangram says - pick one you like, no need to be a fan boy.

Just stay away from INQ phones. They are diabolical shite in every aspect you can imagine.

Corporate whores the lot of you instead of buying a phone volunteer that time this afternoon by occupying a tent
The Android phones do tend to be making inroads but each to their own.
A non cell phone, crackberry, ipad user just the basic laptop kinda guy and yes I see the irony

I get about a five days out of my blackberry - although the trackball fell out a few weeks ago and the phone is pretty much unusable now. Anyway, it's a proper canadian company, not like that american crap.

I blame the iphone for this trend. It made the measurement of standby time in hours rather than days acceptable and that's the benchmark everyone uses now.

Re: Apple or Android
I've had an iPhone and have an Android phone (Google Nexus S).
The deal was this:
£35 per month contract = Free google nexus s phone.
£35 per month contract = £199 charge for the iPhone.
My wallet called the shots. Well, actually it was my wife and I got the nexus s.
After after owning both it's swings and roundabouts. iPhone has a more polished operating system. Android isn't as polished but gives you a little more control over it.
Given the choice again and an even price; I'd go for the iPhone.
Only advice I'd give with Android is go with a phone that gives you a 'vanilla' version of the operating system. I have friends that are on other Android phones that have been customised by the manufacturer and then by the carrier and they say it's crap as they will rarely be upgraded to newer versions of Android. It does happen in some cases, but there is no incentive for the companies involved to do it when they could try and sell you a new phone.
By the time you read this you may have spent your money.... well, what did you get?

Apple's been criticised for vetting software allowed on the iPhones.... but this is what can happen when you don't:
