Any Scuba Divers Out There?!
Just a call for any Scuba Divers out there that are in the process/have completed the move to Canada.
Would be interested to hear from anyone who has had a good experience of diving in Canada, or indeed experienced 'the dive trip from hell' and lived to tell the tale!! Would also be interested in setting up a 'network' of ex-pat divers from the UK on a (very) informal basis in order to swap stories and/or advice on Canadian diving for mutual benefit. Hope to hear from all you hairy a**ed divers out there?! (BSAC, PADI or WhatHaveYou welcome!) regards, corn2can:thumbup: |

I got my advanced qualification diving in PorthKerris, Cornwall. We have dived in a few places in Europe, the middle East and the Indian Ocean. My husband is way more experienced that me in the sport. We live in Calgary, Alberta and havent dived here for obvious reasons. But I do hear that they go ice diving in the lakes. There is also a social club in the city. Also wouldn't mind doing some diving off the coast near Vancouver, in the future. |
Re: Any Scuba Divers Out There?!
I'm a TDI qualified Tech Diver, which means I can do Decompression Diving.
I haven't done any diving in Canada for the last year or so, mainly because it's been taken over by other activities. Having said that, I have done dives in Lake Ontario. A dry suit is a must, with temps at 30m typically between 1 and 5 degrees c. There's not much to see, mainly zebra encrusted wrecks. Other than Zebras there's very little in the way of life in the lakes, in my experience. for those of you with advanced diving qualifications, the folks around here tend to be DIR nazis.... If you want any more info, let me know... |
Re: Any Scuba Divers Out There?!
I'm not a diver but I was a bubble watcher back a few years ago when I had joint ownership of a RIB with a couple of buddies who were divers. Around these parts where the water is exceptionally clear, these guys have an excellent reputation: http://oceanquestcharters.com/en/ A drysuit is a must though!
