Any other runners here?

I'm entering the Toronto marathon in October so gonna be running all summer. This is my first summer running here and the heat is killing me already!

I did the Good Life half mara last month and that was fine, got a PB (woo) but this humidity is really messing up my breathing. I guess really early morning runs or late at night is the answer but changing a routine you've kept to for years is hard!

Anyway, any other runners here that can sympathise?

My username gives it away eh :)

Yes...I hear ya but we (the group) still went out as usal yesterday evening for 1 of our weekly runs, but cut the mileage.

Good on your PB, but you now have to start increasing your mileage close to that of a full-mary (42.2km). We normally do long runs on Sundays 30km, and then everyone does their own runs at other times.

I have over 95 marathons and ultra to my name, and hoping to complete 100 this year if I can.

Good Luck

I did the Chicago Marathon a few years ago so I know how much work it takes but I'm used to training in Scottish weather! haha

Toronto has been hot as hell the past week, I managed a run on Tuesday but since then nothing. My body just isn't prepared for that sort've heat!

That's an impressive amount of maras! Good luck with the getting to 100, I'm only 94 behind you :P

if I were to do a marathon you'd see me in the pace car or whatever they have at marathons that doesn't involve one iota of physical exertion

I used to run a 1500m race a day on Daley Thompson's Decathlon (or whatever that game was called) way back in the day. It really hurt my fingers. There is no way I would be able to run a marathon, I would lose all feeling in my fingertips;)

Runners are insane..there are much more healthy activities you could be doing in your spare time...like eating chocolate cake or watching internet porn.

I ran Victoria a couple of years ago. Great one and as I'm a slow runner I like that they have an early start :) It means not everyone has gone home by the time I finish and the the time clock looks pretty good on the photos :D

Oh good I might consider that one then - how early can I start before the others? Couple of weeks?

Thank you...we also managed to get 7 folks qualified for Boston next year at the recent National Capital Marathon (Ottawa). Ages ranging from 45 - 55+ with times between 3:03 - 3:45 for the full-mary

Going straight to a full Marathon without the training behind you can be brutal, but it's possible if time is not an issue.

My next one is the US Marine Corps in late summer and a 100 miler in Haliburton
