Far from me the desire to criticise but I've heard at least 50% of those expression here in the UK

A couple of months ago I was walking up Denman street with the missus, when we saw a couple of guys bump into each other - you know the sort, young, baseball cap and long shorts wearing types who think they are cool. For a couple of minutes it was all high fives, hugs, hey buddy, nice to see you bro etc, and then (I shit you not) one of them says "sorry, what was your name again?". I don't think I'll ever see a better metaphor for Vancouver than the one in that small vignette.
