a) fried meat (pork?), with the frying process going on for two hours or more; b) something that smells very pungently ("manure" + unidentified spices). Of course, on top of those two base dishes there are several others I'm not able to define (let alone identify). Oh, and my intervention seems to have done more harm than good: they've started cooking their dinner around 11:00pm, when I usually tend to get the sweet embrace of falling asleep. Take that, dolce vita! (BTW, it's 10:45 pm as I write this - guess what made my sleep go away...) |

Well, so far I've been able to identify ("approximate" would be a better word):

Maybe they're using manure as a cooking fuel?

It's one of the hazards of having neighbours, close neighbours.
Buy air fresheners, and febreze and charcoal filters. After a while the brain, the olfactory lobes, stops noticing smells so you should get used to it. |

Where are they from?
Edit: "China", meaning it could be Mainland China, Taiwan, etc. My linguistic skills do not allow me to further pinpoint their origin - but I'm sure it's not Cantonese, Korean, Japanese or anything that might "look Chinese" to "us people" :-) |
Re: Advice needed: neighbour is a pest, what to do?
They could possibly be using fermented bamboo shoots in their cooking - it has a rather potent fragrance!

Already did... And, well, the brain stops registering smells after a while, true, but "things" (clothes, especially) have a much more persistent memory and the yuck factor will be there the next day. Bummer...
