(adjective) (noun) in Canada

Is anyone else sick of hearing things like, biggest this in Canada; or tallest that in Ontario?

I find it both funny and cringe-worthy, some of the importance people here place on rubbish facts. (That are, at times, not even facts.)

Some call it a sense of pride, I call it "redneck".

We Brits probably get on their nerves too for some of the things we say! I think Canadians are a lovely bunch of friendly and welcoming (rarely whingeing)people and, after all, is what you mention so awful? It's pretty inocuous really.

Re: (adjective) (noun) in Canada

I'm Canadian by birth, spent 14 years here, moved to Northern Ireland, moved back.

It is innocuous, yes, but overall I find it a little silly. Take for instance the CN Tower; tallest free standing.... whatever. (It's not anymore.)
The point with that is, it's F**KING UGLY anyway!

I guess I'm a little down on Canada because I find it so naive in certain ways; the "(adjective) (noun) in Canada" thing kinda illustrates that for me.

Rant, rave, seethe...

Last summer we went to the biggest city in Europe.

Landed at the busiest airport in Europe.

I was told once that some guy in Parry Sound was the "best guitarist in Canada" I'm still wondering why he lives in his Pick-up!

Perhaps "redneck" is a little harsh, if that's what you are referring to.
In my neighbourhood, we have a few. A great few, if you can say that.

I have seen MANY (perhaps a lot more than my fair share) of them across this land. Ergo the inflammatory remark.

Sorry to any well-meaning rednecks out there; I'm sure YOUR pick-up truck and dream catcher ensemble are lovely.

(edited for punctuation)

Isn't being naive like.....being.....innocent in a way? Makes a change from know-alls.

Well, I am a Mac user.
I will cease, at this point, any further reference to my computer.
