But I also like Slipknot, Mastadon, Lamb of God, Machine Head, as well as modern blues players like Philip Sayce and Matt Schofield ..... Yeah!

Yes, and you've created a thread where all the narcissists get to show off how cool they think they are (or how they are so uncool it's actually cool) by posting the bands they like or the gig's they've been to.

Haha! Wtf are you on? No I haven't. I've created a thread debating if anyone else feels that peer pressure is trying to make them change their musical tastes when they get older.

What you should have done is point out my "trying to be cool" hypocrisy by posting cynical snide remarks - I left it wide open for this comeback.

Anyway, peer pressure about music is something you have when you are a teenager. When you are 49 you should like what you like unapologetically - you get not to care about other peoples opinions.

Finding like-minded people is a good thing.

I remember when I left University in 1990 and had my first job (in a laboratory), I was asked by my boss when I was going to stop liking all the stuff I did as a student.
In some way there was an assumption by his generation that there was a stage at which you should 'grow up' and for them that seemed to entail totally changing your personality and stopping enjoying all the things you enjoyed as a young woman or man.

The happiest and most interesting people I meet are the ones who have refused to do this and who have followed their interests (in music, sport and other recreation) regardless of their age and the expectations of society.

STOP THE CLOCKS!
I agree with Alan 2005

That's been going a while. It's been too early, but now I'm feeling quite christmassy - so I'm putting it on.

One's tastes change.

I the 70s I liked, or pretended to like, all the stuff you were supposed to like. Looking back, I should have liked Slade more. They were really quite good.

These days it's Brit Soul and most of the Candyrat stuff (Ewan Dobson and Don Ross in particular).

A 'crombie is a coat, not a jacket, you're thinking of an 'arrington. I routinely wear this stuff, except the coat, one of the kids moved away in that. I believe I was in Docs and red tags at the Yard last week, a tonic suit being a bit much for the occassion.

Well dependent upon the occasion the attire must fit in.

Footy match yes Ben Sherman, levis cherry docs, and the Harrington jacket with the Royal Stuart tartan lining.

Casual night out possibly a Wigan Casino type soul shirt, 24" parallel trousers with half inch turn ups, black Oxford brogues with metal segs heel and toe sole and a black Barathea blazer with a minimum of 6 buttons on each sleeve.

Real posh do substitute the Barathea for the Crombie coat and coloured
hankerchief or other in the left hand breast pocket.

The tonic suits were only worn by the southern pansy shandy drinkers.
