We always leave our UK cell phone switched on in case our daughter still in the UK needs to contact us urgently. I noticed the other day that I had a missed call listed as the above number. So as it was a Canadian number ringing our UK cell phone I tried to ring the number from our Canadian land line to find out who it was here that was trying to contact us, and was told that the number was not in use.

I thought no more about it, until there was another missed call. Just out of curiosity I googled this number and it came up with lots of sites mostly from people who have been contacted by a man trying to rent out an apartment and wanting money but wont let them look at it beforehand, very fishy. So as we have not been involved in trying to rent something I wonder how they have got hold of our number (there are only one or two people in Canada that have our UK cell phone number) and what the scam might be in our case.

Has anyone else had troubles from this number. I dont particularly want to answer the phone, if only to tell them to B.... off, as it will cost money so have just been ignoring the many calls that they have been trying to make, but my heart jumps each time it rings as I always think something is wrong! Our daughter often texts us so I dont want to switch the phone off just in case she needs to contact us.

it says the following for that number

Oh those calls do my head in! They always come at really awkward moments when it isnt easy to answer the phone

I know the ones you mean, they are usually on our land line though, never had them on our UK cell before!

Interesting, perhaps it was a genuine call then.
