We watched The Dig yesterday... a perfectly pleasant "Sunday afternoon film". Sutton Hoo isn't that far from us, a very interesting place to visit.

Same reaction. Really enjoyed it. Haven't been to the site, but was incredibly impressed with the craftsmanship of the AS jewlery in the BM. Also thought RF did a supberb acting job (as usual).

Same for The Dig. Also another was Palmer in the same vein.

White Tiger. Netflix. Interesting and funny Indian drama about a servant's journey to freedom.
Spoiler:
Gratuitous murder scene really not necessary.

Greenland on Prime. Gerard Butler end of the world survival saga. Gloriously crap in a watchable way.

This was absolutely awful. Worst movie I have watched in ages, and it was over 2hrs.

Straight Outta Compton (Netflix)

Been meaning to see for a while. Watched it in a few sessions. Interesting to see the formation of a genre that I dismissed as a fad at the time.

Bliss - Awful
Supernova (2020) - Very good watch
Blithe Spirit - Stick with the Margaret Rutherford version
I Care a Lot - Yet to watch

"I'm thinking of ending things"

I don't stop watching many movies, but I could not make it past the initial 25 minutes of them talking in the car. Not for me, and it was filmed in a really weird aspect ratio. I turned off and watched this instead 'Red Dot" much more entertaining.

Very good film, but needs to be watched in its entirety to be understood.

And if you liked Parasite you will love 'Old Boy', it is one of the best Korean movies I have ever seen. It's part of the The Vengeance Trilogy.

If you Google it, watch out for spoilers.

Will check that out, thanks for the heads up

The White Tiger isn't a Korean movie, it's Indian, but a (very broadly) similar theme to Parasite, a poor outsider working his way into a rich family. It's really great stuff.

Nomadland. Understated. Melancholy.

Ironically, won't be investing in a van anytime soon.

I reviewed this last week over in The Lounge. Not a brilliant movie, but entertaining and worth watching.

Ludicrous, but fun. And I never get tired of Margot Robbie.

Talking of whom, this weekend I finally made time to watch Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I'm not exaggerating to say that it is one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life. Absolutely tremendous stuff.

Talking of Tarantino movies, my Daughter watched Pulp Fiction the other week and now she gets why I still recite lines from a 27 year old movie on a daily basis. For example, when I am sweeping the floor and she is in the way, I ask her to "step aside Butch" or when she is playing deaf I shout "do you hear me talking hillbilly boy" at her

I love that movie.

I'm only really interested in his wrist watch, his car, and whatever gadgets Q gives him. Can't wait to see who they got lined up for the next 007.

I never understand why it has to be 007. I mean all this talk about black or female actors. We already know there are Double-O agents (Sean Bean was a 006) and we have already seen a replacement 007 for the period Bond was inactive and we've had white and black actors playing Felix and male and female as "M".
The Man From U.N.C.L.E. with Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin was supplemented by The Girl From U.N.C.L.E. with April Dancer. Mission Impossible has successfully been rebooted with a completely different character in Ethan Hunt compared to original Jim Phelps.

There's even been a Jason Bourne movie without Jason Bourne.

I think Daniel Craig has been utterly brilliant as Bond and acting wise, as well as character wise, why not retire the number 007 just as sports teams retire a number worn by a legend?

There are 8 other Double-Os to be used or they could even come up with a different name in rebranding; my main civil service grade had three different names in my DSS/DWP days, but no gadgets better than this.
Spoiler:

I'm sure the Intelligence Services can think of something different to call their top agents.
