I have never ever had the flu shot, and I have only ever had the flu once. I'm not planning one having one this year either.

As a family, we got ours yesterday. We believe in herd immunity through vaccination...

Varies year to year for me depending on if I can get in while the supply of covered doses are still available.

I am scheduled to get one next week.

No and not intending to. My Father agreed to have the flu shot one time only - at the insistance of his GP (he suffered with emphysema) and that was the only year he ever caught it... at 76
My ex had the flu shot once - was given it after his quad bypass surgery at a check up - and yes, that was the only year he caught flu - a very bad version of it - and passed it to me.

I was ill for weeks.. very similar symptoms to Covid 19, strangely.. nausea, diarrhea, hallucinations, loss of appetite (drinking water / fruit juice only for 10 days). breathing difficulties, extreme fatigue, high fevers, body and head aching, and severe pain in chest / ribs when breathing in; I was coughing for weeks on end. I lost 11lb in the first week alone.. I was in bed 24/7 for 6 weeks, could barely get out of bed to reach the toilet.. and so exhausted with coughing, I struggled to get back to normal life for another few weeks after I had 'recovered', just wiped out.

I am completely undecided, and a bit worried, I had a flu shot once, many years ago, and was as sick as a dog and in bed for three days...I've never gone back for more of the same...this is 2020 what could possibly go wrong:(...answers on a postcard please

Re: 2020 Flu Shot Thread

So far influenza in Canada is off to a slow start and below what we would see most years, places like Australia during their winter saw a pretty significant decline as well. Seems the precautions we are taking for COVID are reducing influenza spread as well.

I know they say you can't get flu from the vaccine, but 2016 was the first year I got a flu shot, and man was I ever sick a few weeks later, felt like a train hit me, fever and all, seemed consistent with the flu, and probably just a coincidence in timing, and flu vaccine effectiveness varies year to year as well.

I am almost wondering if I should even get it next week, I rarely leave the house, don't gather with other people, not working, and spend about 30 minutes a week in a store...

would love to get flu shot, can't get one for love nor money in Toronto
Curious if those who refuse to get the vaccination will also be refusing the covid one.
For the record the flu vaccine does not give you the flu. its not a live virus vaccine, science doesn't work that way

I'll get the higher dose one from our Walgreens drug store. The higher dose one is for people over the age of 65. I get the flu shot every year and knock on wood have never had the flu or a bad reaction to the shot.

Really...we didn’t have a problem. Registered with our doctor and 2 Shoppers Pharmacies...within a few days we got a call from all 3. Had the shot the day before Thanksgiving.

When I got mine at my local pharmacy there was no waiting; the owner told me demand was very light, and he hadn't given out any the previous day. Our health district didn't set up a bunch of clinics in Regina this year, but started a drive-through flu shot program (by appointment) on the fair grounds where they have the covid testing. I suspect this may account for the light traffic at the pharmacy.

Had ours yesterday. My arm is really sore. The guys are like..”flu shot? Na no pain” 🥺

I had the flu twice winter 2018/19 and decided the shot was better than going through that again!

The shot was right at the top of my arm. Arm and shoulder was sore the next day, but I usually get a sore arm. I also felt unwell the next day, thankfully that was only for 24 hours.

Approx 15 years ago we both had flu. It came on very quickly, within 1 hour we felt dreadful. We were both pretty much non functional for a week, took weeks to fully recover. Since then we always get the shot as soon as it is available. We normally go to the US as it is available there early September and we vacation Oct/Nov.

Hope you manage to get it before too long,
