I haven't bothered with this mindless thread for a while, but could any of you possibly take a wider view?
There are credible reasons to believe that oil prices are going to go as low as $43, personally I think it might be lower.
Apparently the $43 number is the break even price for non-conventional shale oil in the US (I'm told).
What is that going to do to Herr Führer's (sorry Mr. Harper's) Canada?
The $Cad is going nicely into the tank*, which is good for the real Canadian economy (or what's left of it after it after 8 years of Walpurgisnacht) I suppose.
*Against the $US, which is all Canadians take any notice of. It's pretty stable against Sterling and the Euro areas, which quite frankly, couldn't give a flying one about Canada.

I only care about a strong CAD against the USD as when the CAD is weak it means not being able to see my family who is in the US, and basic things like food seem to go up in price as the CAD falls.
If only we could get paid in USD...ha ha
Gas is 1.13 in Squamish today, not sure we will see the under 99 cents but here is hoping. Cheaper gas means more money in my pocket which isn't a bad thing.

Has the economy been that bad over the last 10 years? I ask as I don't know, not much seems to have changed in BC...

On the National tonight they were at the Fort Mc Murray area and telling of many people being laid off.
But on the other hand saying that Ontario is booming with the low dollar price.
In a selfish kind of way it's good that gas is so cheap now, as I use lots of it. But wow it has dropped so bloody fast !! Over 50c in 6 months, that's guna hurt some one some where.

Re: 2014 Gas price moaning thread
Went to London yesterday. 93.8 when we arrived. Came out of the mall and it was 92.5, then after dinner it had dropped again to 91.9.
Much as I like being able to fill a minivan for less than a mortgage payment, such a fast drop makes me a little uneasy. It also makes me a little angry when I read about the different measures OPEC nations take to pretty much fix and control prices.
I believe it has already dropped below Libya's break even point.
