It's a one game series.

You know why we had all that hail and snow today? It's hell freezing over.

The Penguins had better watch out. There are quite a few surprises in hockey at the moment.

The Leafs surprised everyone by even making it to the playoffs. They have surprised even more by the comeback and taking it to 7. They could actually win this series.

Ditto the Sens. Crippled by injuries to star players, they had to fill the bench with rookies. Few would have expected them to make it to the playoffs. Nobody told the rookies that they were not meant to play that well. With most of the stars also now back in action, the Sens have a very strong team. Sid Bieber will be attracting the attention of the Sens' mashers.

A lot of what is happening in the playoffs is down to the goalies.

It displays an ignorance of the fact that many Brits are interested in hockey and have been for a long time. There is a thriving league in the UK (although maybe not as thriving as in the post-war years).

Just so I know the form, if the Leafs lose in game seven and the Sens are knocked out in round two do we go back to calling it Iced Hockey?

I definitely wouldn't say it was thriving in the UK at the moment and hasn't for a good few years. Some of the teams that are classed as big in the UK are struggling financially (and gone under in recent years) and don't get the number of spectators watching that they need to succeed.

I'm a Giants fan, actually, but when I posted about the UK league before nobody on this forum seemed to have heard about it.

The Boston plane did not make the flight back last night, apparently, there was something wrong with the plane and they had to fly this morning. Lol

The Leafs on the other hand got away smartly on their plane and were in Boston in time for supper.

it had a thriving period in the mid-90s when i was at school, my former local team (Ayr Scottish Eagles) won the British Grand Slam one year, i remember it being a whole town affair, parties, school tours with the trophies etc

i don't think its as popular as it was then, but a lot of the teams still have a decent enough following!

Got the last 5 minutes and OT, good game what I saw. Boston advances.

Total nailbiter!

Happy that Boston have progressed! They'll play the winners of the NYR v WAS game going on right now...which looks like it will be the Rangers, as they're up 5-0 with less than 10' to go in the 3rd!

Rangers in 7... although the bookies have got the Pens, LA, Blackhawks and Bruins winning the next round
