It’s not enough for a really nice new boat so I’d repower mine with two new 400hp outboards and spend the rest on takeaways.

So it's probably a better deal than that.
It was probably a private company looking for a logo that would help it distinguish themselves in the market like a NIKE or Apple. Also their own money being spent.
This is the Govt spending taxpayers money on a book cover for a Budget that happens usually every year.

If it was me I would pay somebody all the money to move a Gas fired 110v generator, it's like the Gov like to waste money but on a smaller scale

We should be relieved that the spend was limited to 212k. Politicians have a nasty habbit of spending our money to suit their own purposes. Perhaps one of the most blatent I can remember was Harold Wilson's and Barbara Castle's election sweetener that sanctioned the construction of the Humber Bridge for the 1966 Hull North by-election.

Nice bridge and well engineered but not needed.

Too true...but then you'd have to live here!

I'd use the lot to travel around Canada on a really long road trip...to get to see more of it than the places I've so far been to...go catch a crab with Oink, paddle in the tidal bore with Bristol, take Siouxie for vino and go to see what Caretaker is cooking up next for lunch

What we’d do was leave around 10:30 in the morning and go out and drop four crap pots then cruise up Howe Sound and put down some prawn traps and then go into Snugg Cove and have a long boozy lunch while we wait for our traps to fill up. Pick up some smoked salmon, cheese, a fresh baguette, two more bottles of wine and a bottle of Grey Goose (for shots on the way back ) from the market at the top of the hill and then go and see how we got on with our gear. Hopefully you can drive a boat as I’ll probably be passed out by 3 o’ clock.

LOL

OP - Deposit on a house probably - would be nice

To the general theme, all governments spend exorbitant amounts - waste money - at all levels: municipal, provincial, federal etc. One can hope that they know how to use that money and not waste it, but that would presume we have competent, ethical people in place (at every government position)
