( also as someone who has seen Barry Manilow more than once - I went with a friend.....:o I don't think Chris is that embarrassing )

If Chris de Burgh comes to Toronto shall we go? I kinda like him in a nostalgic kind of way :)

I collect vintage children's books. Anthony Buckeridge "Jennings" books. Also the Enid Blyton "Adventure" books. My wife collects Giles Annuals (she even has a first issue with a Giles signed letter on Express Newspaper headed paper). That's pretty cool, but it means it lives in the safe.

I'm impressed by red things. Especially shiny red things. And gin, if they made a shiny red gin the I would be happy.

Burning holes in the sky burns holes in my wallet! As do my picture taking gadgets. Rarely both at the same time, although it has been known on occasion. The OH and I both have the same hobbies, so twice the expense and half the risk.

We are just dipping our toes back in the concert scene after being away from some time...

So far this year its been Disney on Ice and we have Dora the Explorer to look forward to at the end of May (woo!) Lion King is just too expensive sadly.

Otherwise I like to wander aimlessly round Winners and Homesense - its worse than Ikea - I always seem to come out with something completely different to what I went in for.

(Oh and Ann, you need to make sure you are earning good points on that credit card!)

I introduced my Canadian boss to the phrase 'Fannying around". It is now his favourite!

Before child - make up and holidays
After child - holidays

We're both pretty good at saving, though.

OMG Lion King is totally worth it, the show is phenomenal. The visual display is like nothing you'll see in any other show. I highly recommend it. (I've seen it 3 times!)

Really? Maybe I'll see if there are cheap seats or cheaper matinee then I only had a quick look, nearly died and then stepped away lol. DD used to watch the film every other day, so I thought I would take her for part of our Mum/daughter weekend this summer.

It's one I'd actually say that being a bit further back is probably a good thing, as opposed to being right up at the front. I think you appreciate the theatrics more. The musical is almost verbatim of the movie, a lot of the script is identical, but there are some new songs added (and one song from Lion King II actually). But honestly, it's a fantastic stage production and visually is really spectacular. Anyone who grew up watching that movie would absolutely appreciate the show. I took my husband for his birthday a few years ago, he'd never really seen the movie, but still thought the musical was fantastic, particularly in the execution.

I wouldn't go all the way back to nosebleed seats, but if there are seats in the maybe $70ish range (assuming $50ish is the lowest) then that would probably be just fine a bet.

Another tip: DO NOT BE LATE. The opening sequence in particular is worth the entire ticket.
