What is it like living in Malta?

I have just turned 40 and looking for a more laid back way of life with a small bit of night life and safe and friendly locals. Nice beaches and great local food. Also looking for nice summer weather most of the year. Is it a cheap or expensive place to live? If I am right in thinking they speak English here?
If anyone can give me any info that would be great.

As others have answered to your other posts on Thailand & Gibraltar

Malta - well at age 40, I dunno.

You see Malta is small, overcrowded, the winters suck - yet, you said you rent out the UK property for £1000/mth (€1400/mth), you could very well live & retire to Malta on that kind of money in a furnished apartment + the extras, away from the main tourist areas in Gozo for example.

Then, there is always Ireland, Norfolk Island, Portugal or Spain.

IMO, stay in the UK & holiday to Thailand, Malta, Spain, Portugal.... just about anywhere, even OZ or NZ

What about taking a look at the Bahamas?

So many choices

Norfolk Island doesn't get summer weather all year - well not UK type summer. It is often affected by East Coast Low Pressure systems, and even extra-tropical cyclones.

Well, no place really gets summer weather all year because summer is always the warmest season of the year. Maybe mild winters .
