Yellow breasted sunbirds
#1

This pair of yellow breasted sunbirds have been regular visitors this week just outside my study window.
I’ve been trying to capture them on camera for a few days. Super to watch.
Today at last the female seems less shy, but the male still darts away at the smallest movement.
I think they’re probably nest building - they seem very partial to my spanish moss.

They are gorgeous....lucky you.
I see a few around the condo garden grounds but they flit about so quickly. I've forgotten a lot of the bird-names though I used to know them when we were at ground level in Thailand. There's one bird that is almost like a wren - I've seen that too here.

They are olive-backed or sometimes called yellow-bellied sunbirds. As you said there are quite a few around in the trees & shrubs flitting from flower to flower, you can usually hear their high pitched calls before you see them. They are very hard to photograph but I was very lucky a couple of weeks ago when chatting with one of the security guards at our condo I noticed over his shoulder a male out in the open singing away oblivious to us. Fortunately I had my camera handy with the right lens on.
