Default Who to book a vacation through?

Afternoon all,

Can anyone recommend a travel agent/website to book trips/vacations through?

I am aware of AirAsia, is this the chepest option for a package deal? Or is it best to book flights and hotel seperatley?

Thanks

We always book flights and hotels ourselves.
Never packages.

Google and then Tripadvisor with a pinch of salt.

So which companies do you use to book? This is what I don't know. It will obviously be cheaper to book indivdually. Booking direct with hotel is the most expensive. Who are the low cost airlines?

Depends where your trip is to but locally for low cost airlines you have Air Asia, Firefly, Malino (not sure on spelling but think its Indonesian?) and Berjaya Air. There may be others from Subang airport but we've not flown them yet. We find Sky Scanner is good to compare flights and then book direct with the airline website.

For hotels we use Booking.com and Agoda.com for most bookings. As ex re suggested, tripadvisor can give a good insight and ranks hotels for destinations (not always accurate though). Prices comparable, although Agoda you can earn points for booking and reviewing which eventually leads to future discounts. Before booking we always check the hotels website direct though incase they have special packages which the online players don't offer, this can often be the cheapest option once you've decided where to stay.

We never book packages although Berjaya Air offer a number of short break packages which we've considered before but never progressed with.

Happy travels!

For long haul we use BA.
Always the cheapest for us because of 6 monthly ticket.
We always book directly with the hotel which again we find the cheapest.

Local to the region then use one of the sites to find a hotel you like then try it online to see if the price matches or is cheaper. It always is cheaper direct for us, but we use the same hotels time after time.

I've downloaded an App called skyscanner on my iPad (though gawd knows why as I don't travel anywhere these days) but it seems quite good giving you a lot of options re flights. It's a free App so nothing to lose.
