Where to get comfort grub

Where to get comfort grub
I can only speak for Penang but if anyone else elsewhere wants to join in, please do.
My idea of comfort grub is the kind of stuff you would eat once in a while in the UK. I suppose that's because I am a Brit. It's nice just now and again.
When we arrived first day in Penang and it was late afternoon. We had a rental place booked up in Tg Bungah Hillside. On the way in the car, we kept our eyes open for a little supermarket or minimarket to pick up a few essential provisions and we saw this little place called the Straits Mini Market. It's on a sideroad around the back of Tg Bungah Hillside. There was an old Chinese guy running the place called Andrew. Prices were a little steep for some items but that's what you would expect for a small minimarket. We noticed a sign on the wall Cumberland Sosej, Lincolnshire Sosej and some weeks later we bought some... and they were delicious. These were sausages made in the old-fashioned way. I can honestly say I was drifting back to childhood days in ol' Blighty when I ate them. Very nice. Probably wouldn't cut the mustard now in the EU but who cares.
So if anybody is interested in buying some (he also does great bacon too) the shop is situated on Jalan Loh Poh Heng in Tanjung Bungah. Enjoy!

Oooh, I shall deffo be paying a visit!!
We've tried the sausages and bacon from Cold Storage which was ok but not quite what we'd get at home.
Thanks for the tip!

No Tescos here.
I really really like Tesco brand Sultana Bran.
Is it sold in Malaysian Tescos.
The only Sultana Bran I've found here is made by Post.
Not a patch on the Tesco stuff which I can eat at any time of day but have to be a bit careful as it makes me a real goer.

Ya that's the point about bran uh? I'll try and remember to have a look when I go in this week. Can u transfer foodstuffs across the border? Tho would anyone be bothered?
What about marmite? I love marmite Always amuses me that they have the stuff locked up in Cold Storage and you have to go and ask for it and get it unlocked, like it's a gold bar or summink

I think Bran would be fine though but I'd check first.

Don't suppose it's available in Penang. I recall years decades ago when I smoked being able to purchase my favourite rolling tobacco' Golden Virgina',at an Indian stall of Penang Road.
Heaven as couldn't get in OZ at the time. Can these days but have no call for it these days.

I looked in Tesco Tg Pinang and no Tesco sultana bran.... sorry ex Reg Not sure if we have Alpen here. Don't eat cereals too often. So many of them full of sugar or salt or both.

Re: Lincolnshire sosej (for Mr Strider)
Mr Strider, check out the first post on here. The Straits Mini Market is on the cut through from Tg Bungah to Tg Bungah hillside, if you know that. On Jalan Loh Poh Heng.
I found my last batch of Cumberland sausages that I bought weren't so good... a bit fatty. Maybe someone lost the recipe. The Lincolnshire sausages are absolutely fab. Andrew the owner is a real character too, like so many Penang Chinese.
