Default What is there to do in KL?

Hiya,

Have a good job opportunity in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I've done a bit of research but really need a pointer regarding an issue I have - what is there to do there in your spare time?!!

In the UK, I love going for walks in country parks, playing sports, taking the kids out, museums, the library etc. I've heard (I don't know if this is true, hence my question), that the Malays don't really do that kind of stuff, so it's not really available out there.

Which really puts me off.

Any pointers please?

Plus, people keep mentioning lots of different areas in KL. Is there a map online anywhere please?

You can do everything you want except maybe walks in the country unless you take those walks slowly so as not to get too hot or take the walks in early morning or evening before/after the sun is high but then you risk mossies.

Why don't you google for a map.

Think you'll find all those things are a tad cheaper in KL than the UK too

... and all that great Malay food too - yum, yum

Enjoy!

Thanks. I was really surprised that Google had a map of KL!

That is really useful to me thanks!

Are there any websites like enjoyengland.com which tell you about the activities available in Malaysia?
Or any books I can buy?

There's plenty to do, check the tourism Malaysia website
Malaysia Tourism
On that page there are details of the Forest Park and other things
There are other areas in KL like the Orchid Park and Bird Park that are good for a wander. The aquarium and national museum are in the city center as well.
The Batu Caves are a bit of a drive, but are apparently worth seeing.
A wealth of info at WikiTravel KL - check under the 'see' and 'do' sections.

I don't think you'll be bored.

seems to be a bit of a sweeping generalisation to say that Malays don't walk or go to the library etc!

Best to just get here and open your eyes.

Lots of stuff listed in the papers. More to be found out just talking to people.
