Me and my family are relocating to Malaysia.
Shipment is paid by the company and will still have lots of space in the container.... so we wonder what to put ?
What is expensive in Malaysia that would be worth buying in the UK to ship there ?
What top 5 things would you ship ?
Many thanks

Good quality china, with extras for breakages.
If you have hobbies (say quilting, fishing or whatever) bring extra supplies. That's useful until you find out where the local suppliers are.
And in your suitcase bring a letter from your UK Motor Insurance company confirming what your No Claims Discount is.

2.Kitchen electrical equipment. I left my Kenwood back in the UK. Checked prices here for a new one and it is double the price.
3. ( this was my husbands problem) If you have a preferred brand of underwear stock up, larger mens sizes difficult to find and expensive.
4.Any favourite creams or cosmetics there is a large selection available here but not always the same as in the UK.
5. (this is one from my friends) Hair Dye particularly colors used in the UK are not available here.

I'll second the kitchen appliance comment. Decent toasters hard to find and more expensive. Same goes for kettles that aren't the Asian urn style.

We also shipped 30 litres of Philippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil because that was much cheaper in the U.K.
I am ok with B.U.M. and Alain Denon - both obtainable from SOGGO in KL. Worth noting that SOGGO have a huge sale (up to 70% off) around May/June. I guess it depends what you mean by "larger sizes". I've been able to get XL without any problem.

Crikey, you must love your olive oil, Bluenose
. Mind you, I use a fair bit too.

Hi
If you're above a UK size 12 I'd recommend stocking up on lots of summer clothes, underwear, bras etc.
I'm not sure where you're going in Malaysia - KL may have better options for "larger" sizes but here in Johor there's nothing (and Singapore's not much better apart from M&S, Dorothy Perkins and Wallis).

Hi,
A few more thoughts:
UK TVs also work in Malaysia.
Slimline dishwashers are not readily available in Malaysia
For home and kitchen appliances you can get a good idea of prices on these websites:
www.harveynorman.com.my - (major retailer)
www.sengheng.com.my - (major retailer)
www.superbuy.my - (online discount store)
www.lazada.com.my - (online discount store)

1 Oxo cubes - can't find them here, not even in Cold Storage.
2 Toothpaste if you don't like Colgate - only brand available
3 Flat sheets - useful so you don't have to wash comforters everytime you have guests. Most cheap and cheerful bedding sets come with a comforter ( a duvet with a fixed cover)
4 Coasters - I had to pinch some beermats from the local bar until I went back to the UK. Condensation drips off cold drinks and coasters are very useful
5 A proper oven glove if you use them - the long ones with a pouch at each end for your hands.

Almost! I think only newer TVs will work at the moment. We brought 3 with us. 2 Sony's (52" & 46") and a Bush (19"). You have to have a tv that you can change the sound setup on. Our Sony's (bought around 3 or 4 years ago) weren't a problem, although I had to change the regional sound (strangely, I think it was to Germany/Austria) and then it worked ok. The Bush doesn't have an option to change, so now I will be using that as a monitor! Incidentally, where we are in Melaka, we also need to use a booster on the aerial - we did think about bringing a digital aerial out with us as my wife thinks those in the UK are far superior to any that we have seen available here. We may still yet bring one once our house is built.
I said "at the moment" because although Malaysia had started to roll out Digitial, they only did so in one state (cannot remember which one) then TM decided to stop that and concentrate on spreading broadband availability. I guess it will be a few years yet before they get around to providing full digital, then presumably there shouldn't be any problems televisual-wise.

Although I haven't seen OXO cubes per se, Knorr Beef, Chicken and Fish cubes are readily available, although in my opinion they contain too much salt!
We also brought a stock of supermarket-branded ibuprofen tablets (the ones you can get for between 16p and 32p for packs of 16). UK seem to only allow you to buy 2 packs at a time, so we just kept buying them every time we were in. Of course, another alternative would be to shop in 3 or 4 different supermarkets/pharmacies a day if you have that luxury.
You can usually buy prescribed medicines over here, but worth checking. I had been prescribed 4 different tablets, but only 3 are available - I need to check with a doctor to find out if there is an alternative name for the other one, as the pharmacist couldn't find one. They could well be more expensive here, though. Originally I bought them 1 month at a time, but have found it is considerably cheaper buying 2 months.
If you have a dishwasher, it will also be worthwhile thinking about powder/tablets and rinse aid. That was something else we stocked up on prior to shipping.

Yes I've bought other stock cubes but there is nothing that comes close to an oxo cube.
You can get super strength 400mg Nurofen from pharmacies for just a few RM.
I often wish I had my steam floor cleaner here too. Don't seem to be able to find one.
Just make sure you bring bucket loads of patience, good humour and tolerance.

You can get OXO cubes at Village Grocer in Sunway Giza Mall, Kota Damansara. Also coasters and oven gloves from AINO Living in 1 Utama or Desa Parkcity Waterfront. Ikea also have coasters and Oven gloves.

I'm in JB so have fewer shopping choices than you lucky KL people.
