Well that was painless!

The company applied for my Singapore Employment Pass last week... and I got a letter today saying my application was approved! Wow, that was quick.... and easy! Compared to the hassle we had getting a Temporary Work Permit, renewing it and then getting Permanent Residency in Canada, an absolute doddle! Let's hope all "bureaucratic" functions are so efficient over there!
I know this should be on the Singapore forum... but there's nobody there!
To "Malaysianise" it.... are things that efficient there too? My dealings with the Embassy suggest otherwise.

Excellent. Its nice when things go your way, particularly when its unexpected!
Sadly, 'Malaysia' and 'efficient' are two words rarely used in the same sentence. But who knows, you might be lucky!

Ah but they're nice and friendly in Malaysia
Well done Geedee. That's great to hear. So, what's the plan next? When are you moving out? Starting off in Singapore?

The estate agent tells me property is "moving fast" as people get ready for next school year... and I can see rents are going up! I'd prefer to be in Malaysia because that's where the school is.... but if we can't sort out the visa issues (mentioned on another thread) we may be stuck starting off in Singers. Which will be a pain as I just heard today that the quarantine kennels are fully booked for at least the next 3 months...

Still, at least I have the work permit!

As you say, you have the work permit. It's a good start
One step at a time eh.

Err nope...I am 100% ol' Blighty stock flavoured with 8 recent years of the Tropics. Never set foot in Canada.

Oh I see. I had no idea. You better get used to Lah at end of sentences for Singapore (and sometimes Malaysia too)
