Hi Guys,

Has anyone had experience of the 7 day quarantine to get into Kota Kinabalu, Sabah?

My wife is Malaysian, living in the UK, and her mother near KK has terminal cancer so she is planning a trip to be with her asap.

Looking at the quarantine options, there seems to be 3 hotels to choose from for the 'premium' option (not going to use the 'basic' accommodation).

(Info on this is so hard to find so I may be wrong)

Ming Garden Hotel & Residence
Pan Borneo Hotel
Monaco Boutique Hotel

Looking on Trip Advisor, the Ming has been totally slated as terrible for quarantine guests.
Cannot find any quarantine reviews on the other 2 hotels.

Any advice on this would be appreciated as it seems my wife may have to suffer the 'best of the worst' for 7 days.

How would your wife travel to KK? The first point of entry in Malaysia will be the location of quarantine. So, for example, if you wife flies from the UK to Kuala Lumpur to transfer to KK she will have to do the quarantine in Kuala Lumpur. If, on the other hand, she flies from the UK to Singapore and then transfers to KK she will have to quarantine in KK.

I have checked and as long as she spends less than 24 hours in KLIA and is in transit, she can travel on to Kota Kinabalu and quarantine there.

I have been searching everywhere for an updated list of quarantine hotels in KK, but cannot find one anywhere. So frustrating. Any ideas?

I guess you have seen this web site or the latest iteration - https://www.kln.gov.my/web/gbr_londo...ss-in-malaysia Also there appears to be a useful Facebook group entitled "Malaysia Quarantine Support Group (MQSG)" who may be able to help. I returned to KK on 21 May 2020 from Japan and was allowed to self isolate due to my medical condition, remoteness of my home and the fact that my wife is a retired UK qualified and past practicing nurse. I was told that quarantine centres have no medical facilities or staff.
