Agree there's no need for a TnG or ST if you are staying within Penang. I do 4-5 return journeys across the bridge every week. Never seen any queues at St or TnG gates. I have seen lengthy queues at the pay booths.

I find that very strange. Do you cross the bridge around 7-8 am and 5-7 pm on weekdays? The bridge used to be jam-packed at those times when I was there.

All times really, the bridge is often packed but it's the pay lanes that congest. Even at the worst time the TnG and ST lanes are fairly quickly moving.
