Default Tapirs in Malaysia

Goodness, I had no idea that there were tapirs in Malaysia.

I read on the Star Online today that a tapir had turned up at a gated community in Seremban. The security guards were apparently dumbstruck and tried to shoo it away. It then ran into the gated community hehe. Wonderful stuff. Though, I might not be chuckling if I saw one down in our condo grounds. The best we get are big lizards and the odd dusky leaf monkey.

You can read about it here:

It looks quite docile in the pic but I imagine it could do a bit of damage in a community.

I heard from a resident of a condo in Batu Ferringhi (that's in Penang BEVS) some years ago where a wild pig got into the condo car park and did a bit of damage. And macaque monkeys have been known to pull off windscreen wipers from cars

Another chum, again in Bt Ferringhi, told of an adult monkey (macaque I think) that walked through their apartment, in the front door then out of the balcony without a care in the world
