Looking for 2 things at the moment and can't find either in Penang.
1st is a really nice dinning room table setup. I have the table just need the table cloth with matching placemats, napkin rings etc. I found cheap crap looking sets, but that's not my style. Just something modern, elegant and minimalist.
2nd is good old fashioned dusters. The yellow cloth ones with red stitching around the outside. Yeah I know its all gone micro cloth these days, but where are the real dusters.

Here in Penang, I stumbled across a roll of cloths very similar to J-Cloths in Ace Hardware, Queensbay Mall last week. There's lots of cleaning materials in that store, so you might find something.

If you get on the Spiral Synergy mailing list (JC3 mentioned that they do outings), they also do some "events" called Super Stylish Shopping (or something like that) usually held at G Hotel or Rasa Sayang I think. I haven't been for ages, but you can find some rather nice knick-knacks sometimes like dining room stuff. Might be worth a browse next time it is around.
Super Stylish Shopping
Website not always totally up-to-date, but request to get on the email mailing list.

Hi
An idea for the tablecloth napkins etc might be the batik factory at Teluk Bahang, on the left after the roundabout and before the dam.
Not minimalist, but very nice it you like batik.

Some great suggestions, thanks. I did the request for the mailing list and I'll check out the batik factory shop.
Just thought of another thing. Anyone know of a good piano tuner.

Update.
Lim came round this morning to tune my piano and did a great job. He's a real gentleman and goes about his job with a rare passion seen these days.
He even changed the rebound to suit my playing style. Not many know or care about this. Would recommend Lim highly if you ever need his services.

Oh, and found all I needed for my dining room at 5.4 degrees north, which is in the same street as Makeio.
I bought a set of 6 knife's, forks and desert spoons that look amazing and the bill came to 666RM. How freaky is that, perfect ha ha.
