Default shipping costs and tax

We would appreciate it so much if we can get some idea/advice on roughly how much it would cost us to ferry our family car (quite large) from Langkawi or Labuan to Selangor? Also, would we have to pay any tax on our car when we get to Selangor? Any advice would be helpful."

Best,

Tina

Sorry can't help but I was intrigued by the distance between Langkawi and Labuan.

Not sure I can help but just trying to get my brain around the question. Are you asking if you can ship your UK car into a duty free port (langkawi or Labuan) and bring into Selangor tax free? I think the answer would prob be no, at least legally.

I do know that those living on Langkawi who buy tax free cars are restricted somewhat (legally) as to how often they can drive on mainland.

If you're coming into Malaysia with the mm2h visa, there is a mechanism for bringing in your car tax free.

I've no idea about shipping costs but when I was in Langkawi recently the driver was telling me they are only allowed to drive their cars for 30 days a year on the mainland, else they have to pay tax on the car. I presume this means the standard import taxes would apply (no idea how much this is, but based on the cost of cars here it is probably quite a bit!).
