Can anyone give me a ball park figure for shipping costs from the Uk?.. We won't be bringing large furniture, just clothing, personal stuff small electrical items and hopefully 2 road racing bikes ? Any advice would be great x cheers

hi Butterfly, I have been getting quotes just now ,
3 companies have got back to me, only one with a price so far based on my estimate of what we are taking
Probably a similar load to yourself just substitute the 2 bikes for a basketball stand and a foosball table

Pickfords have estimated just under £1000 for pick up storage and shipping including packing it and all the material required for it, there will be insurance to add to it too.

I have sent more details to the other companies and I am awaiting their reply

Thanks Nicola, I'm in the middle of quotes too but many variations on time etc. I'll keep you posted if I find a good deal. At the mo between £900 & £1200

that's not too bad then I think I have same dilemma over time as we rent out our house at beginning of July and we don't get a house in KL til end of September to put the stuff in so need the quotes to work that timing in too good luck with your move

does anyone know where I can locate an up to date banned list of items that can't be shipped please?
I am unsure if I can pack my knife block or glassware

We've just used Movecorp and they were great. Best service in terms of response time at quotation stage and best price. They came and packed everything too. We shipped 60 cubic feet and it was £175 approx.

There are a few companies out there. I have used Pal Shipping and their prices are v competitive but they are a bit slow. Depends on what kind of service you want but for a box of upto 40kg they charged 40pounds.

Yes it was but we were part of a bigger shared container. They are well worth getting a quote from though.

can definitely recommend pickfords the move was uneventful boxes were packed and sorted and nothing was too much trouble. It was just me that was the dunderhead as with the packing happening early I was shifting lots of stuff and either packed my new passports or binned them so panic stricken phone call to passport office and a trip to Glasgow for an interview squeezed in before we came over.

Hi, I am entering Malaysia on the MM2H program. I do not have bikes but only clothing. lots of books, 4 sewing machines, some pots and pans and a few pieces of sterling silver (which is a big problem now due to cost to enter Malaysia with it - I have been quoted about 5000 pounds Sterling - this is without insurance. From Scotland to Penang area.

I am in Scotland and having lots of difficulty in getting movers to even speak to me cause I do not have furniture. Pickfords while highly recommended wont even give me the time of day - especially after the 1st guy there told me I did NOT need a customs form - yes you need one.

If you get to deal with some movers please post the names. I am moving in 4 weeks and it is getting tight now with only one quote.
