Sabah - Kota Kinabalu
 

Hi All,

Could anyone share their experience in Borneo particularly in Sabah - Kota Kinabalu of tips, advice, bad and good experience, anything about this country. Thinking of taking up a job offer there and would like to know more about this place from people who have been there or stayed there even better. Keep it coming, appreciate it ALOT! Thanks!

Pretty amazing place. Cheap as chips if you're on the UK pound - well, it was 5 years ago. :blink: Myself and the wife passed through Sabah whilst travelling. Kota Kinabalu is a busy and thriving city. Frickin' hot and humid, and a little different from the Western norms, but a lot more developed that I had first expected. Easy to get around, there's some nice islands you can visit by boat. Mount Kinabalu is an impressive lump of rock to climb, and the beer is tasty. I loved it there - one minute you're sipping cold ones, the next you are walking through jungle with leeches hanging off you!

I am fat, and it was hot, so I sweated like a thing that sweats a lot. If you like rats, roaches, heat, humidity, people who must count as some of the friendliest I've come across, and a wide range of experiences, then go for your life. One thing's for sure - you'll have a wild time, and will never forget the place.

I've worked in Bintulu, Labuan, Kuala Belait and Seria.

All a long time ago.

But it was fine and had a great time.

Not sure why you ask particularly about Kinabalu if you are going to work in Sabah.
